Digressing slightly

A couple of work-collegues are going to the Leeds Horror-Fest' next weekend
http://www.cottageroad.co.uk/horror/

Fran is going as the girl from 'The Exorcist' (minus Crucifix....), & Anne, as the Priest

Apparantly, there's a 'Dummies Guide to Exorcism' book being produced, just for the show

I've been told that there's a film included, that absolutely freaked me out as a kid, & according to comments on one of the YouTube uploads of a scene, did the same to a lot of people (given its age, & comparative - to todays - crudeness)
'Night Of The Demon'

by an uncanny coincidence just come back from the theatre, where Robert Lloyd Parry's done one of his one-man-shows on M R James's ghost stories - including Casting of the Runes, which forms the basis of Night of the Demon. If said Lloyd Parry comes round your neck of the woods - highly recommended. We've seen him 3 times now doing a brace of M R James stories each gig, and on another occasion doing Welles' The Time Machine.

Grave of the Fireflies - 9/10

Probably my favourite Studio Ghibli film. It was MrsRM's first viewing and it left her inconsolable for a good hour. I'd warned her how devastatingly sad it was but you really can't prepare for the sense of loss you feel at the end. You'll never look at a rock the same way again.

The yellow sea. My god. No-one does violence like the Koreans. Makes Hollywood violence look like Disney. Intense, driving, guttural action, never lets up from start to finish. Brilliant.

Not heard of this one before and now top of my lust see list.I loved The Chaser which came before it and a massive fan of I Saw the Devil and Park Chan Wook`s vengeance thrillers.

Lucy - Luc Bresson, which I didn't know before I watched it but I should have recognised the style. I'm a fan of Bresson, Fifth Element being a favourite, so I liked this and I also rate Scarlett Johansson as an actress. By contrast I watched Jupiter Ascending a few nights ago and it had some of the right elements to make it a visual feast but just went a bit overboard and story lame which tipped it into not recommended territory.
