I bought a twin movie set of the original Wolfman and Werewolf of London for the princely sum of £2 and watched them this week.

Also watched Dead Snow 2.I was very excited to watch this but was let down to be honest. It doesnt hold up against the first movie and though it starts very well it soon became a little boring.Such a shame as i love the the first movie.

A Fistful of Dollars, comically dubbed in Italian.

Why, in the sixties, did they dub using people with almost the exact opposite of the voice you'd expect? I think the Japanese were the real masters, but the French and Italians showed a real knack too.

Rabbit Proof Fence, based on the true story of 3 aboriginal girls (14, 10 & 8) who were removed from their families for being half casts and escaped from where they were taken. they evaded capture and 2 of them (14 & 8 (Molly & Daisy)) made the +1,000 mile journey home in 9 weeks safely despite being hunted the entire time by both police and an aboriginal tracker. Hard to watch at times but also very inspiring. 8/10

RED. I had seen it before, many moons ago, but it certainly bears a rewatch. A bunch of old hams having the time of their life, with a pretty ridiculous but enjoyable plot, some great performances, and a script bristling with cracking one-liners "Now can I kill her?"

One of my favourite films of all time: a fine reimagination of Xenophon's Anabasis.

good choice; a minor masterpiece of an exploitation movie with a touch of greatness about it

A classic... but the directors cut is one of the worst DVDs on my shelf.

someone mentioned the recent remake of Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy which inspired me to watch the original TV series. I've not got to the end yet, but my word it's a slow burner.... a good slow burner mind.

I love the opening scene of Tinker Taylor (tv version) - maybe 10 minutes of slow build up as they assemble for a meeting, fiddling with teacups, bickering and doing nothing very much - yet utterly compelling. And who but Alec Guinness could make polishing his glasses enthralling? I'm not being sarcastic by the way. The gradual reveal of the story is almost irrelevant

a scene interrupted by me going "Oh it's him out of whatsit? Ohh, and him out of... what was he in?? Oh, and him!! Is that Haskins??? No that's not Haskins, who was he??? My word it's Shelly! ...and... is it... Pickard!!!" That's the drawback of retro telly... too busy playing who's who to focus on the plot.

I thought that about Dead Snow 2 also. I think it also got better reviews than the first probably due to there been an English speaking version. It had its moments like the unpolitically coreect part with the woman in the wheelchair and the woman with the pram. On the whole it wasn't a patch on the first film.
