What film did you watch last night?

I watched the interview, dreadful film. I'm kinda with Kim Jong Un on this one, America went too far!

I needed something easy to follow and not too taxing. It fitted the bill nicely though I wish some of these would be 18's not 15's. It would make them somewhat more enjoyable for me at least!

Watched Point Blank, filmed in 1967, starring Lee Marvin yesterday morning whilst doing physio exercises on my knees, it had been on my recorder for almost a year. A good film and worth a watch when it reappears on Film 4 at some point.

I was going to watch that.

I caught a short bit where Ray Winstone was hamming it up as he gave a speech about the ark to a large crowd, if that's a good representation of the rest of the film I think I'll give it a miss.

That bit was tolerable in the context of the story, but if you found it hammy, you really won't like the rest of the dialogue.

The film had a big budget and some star names, it really should have been a decent example of the fantasy adventure genre.

For some reason, it missed the target big style.

Goes to show there's more to making a film than throwing lots of cash at it.

Or put another way, don't underestimate the likes of Steven Spielberg who seems able to pull these things off more often than not.

A Google for reviews gives a mixed picture.

I've not bothered to read through each one, but the taster page gives, as it should, a good flavour:

Of course, I agree with the negative comments, but it seems to me one or two of the more positive reviewers were taken in by the scale of the film, epic nature of the story, and, possibly, the star names.
