WFT: Waste of Effing Time ?
I was stuck in a hotel in Florida one weekend.
I was the only person there who didn't know it was a ND look alike tribute weekend.
He had a lot of attractive followers amongst the sad and distracted.
But the whole complex pulsated to his music all weekend.
Chill your beans. And it's only doing what I am paying you for.
Reach out to rescue drowning people, touch someone you love .....not to deliver the service your company claims to be in business for.
And I do not want a colleague, I want someone who works. And you can stuff your customer response survey somewhere dark.
Nothing worse than pulsating to Neil Diamond.
More an Americanism, but it starting to take hold here.
"I reached out..."
No you didn't. You effing well emailed/phoned/visited/sent a carrier pigeon. It's silly and stupid so stop it.
Another Americanism which hasn't quite caught on here YET (but no doubt soon will, like everything else) is their habit of saying "I'm gonna GO AHEAD and....... (insert any type of action here!)......". It is very noticeable on just about any YT video of American origin relating to bike maintenance procedures, for every step of the job being explained.
Not English, more European I'd say. "For sure', often used by football players and managers rattles my cage....as they say! 🧐
I'm gonna go ahead and nuke all those idiots before it spreads round the Anglosphere.
Who's with me?!?
Not a hatred, more a bemusement:
" I would have thought that ..."
eh?? Do you mean you DON'T think that, but under certain circs you would?
Why not tell us/me what you DO think!
(Of course in reality it's usually used to have a sly dig e.g.
"I would have thought that it would be quicker for you to come on the M40."
or
"I would have thought you'd find that easy, with your [experience/education/etc]"
