Yes, Scott's Porridge Oats ( or similar ) all the way! Don't bother with all those fancy muselis. Also very good for reducing your colesterol, makes you regular and probably good for acne too!
Forget the morning - carb-load the night before. Big bowl of pasta with some sauce to make it eadible just before you go to bed.
(that is 'cos I'm lazy in the morning and not great in downing large amounts of food)
It all depends on your fitness levels as to what you need to drink and the fuel required.
I am another porridge or porridge oat advocate before a ride.
During a ride a bannana is as good as any energy gel and a flapjack is good as well. For a quick glucose fix jelly babies are a convenient source of easily absorbed carbs. I normally take a zero cal electrolyte sports drink like High Five zero in my bottle to replace lost salt and fluids, some people make their own with a pinch of salt and some fruit juice diluted with water. Bear in mind you will require much more fluid in hotter weather.
I tend to have a large drink and eat a normal meal after a ride. Many people swear by chocolate milk after a ride.
toast or porridge before the ride, jelly babies, usually 1 or two every 10-15 mins, chocolate flapjack (Aldi ones are great) and a non carbonated energy drink 500ml (again the aldi ones are good) diluted into a 750ml bottle. then usually pick anything else up on the ride if necessary.
