It all depends on your fitness levels as to what you need to drink and the fuel required.
I am another porridge or porridge oat advocate before a ride.
During a ride a bannana is as good as any energy gel and a flapjack is good as well. For a quick glucose fix jelly babies are a convenient source of easily absorbed carbs. I normally take a zero cal electrolyte sports drink like High Five zero in my bottle to replace lost salt and fluids, some people make their own with a pinch of salt and some fruit juice diluted with water. Bear in mind you will require much more fluid in hotter weather.
I tend to have a large drink and eat a normal meal after a ride. Many people swear by chocolate milk after a ride.

I'm struggling to get my head around the protein side off things Ect for after I don't want to bulk up I know there is going to be muscle gain Ect but I want to know what u can use after is it a protein shake ? Or what are the meal replacement shakes

You're not going to bulk up without hitting the weights so don't worry about that.
I have used a whey protein shake in the past but there is a lot of different kinds and flavours depending on what you want to pay.

They taste fine with water but nicer with milk!

Porridge with a banana for me too.
I'll also take out with me one of those Jordan's All About Nuts bars. Sometimes I will eat it but other times I feel OK without eating anything whilst riding. I'll take 1 bottle of watered down squash unless it is a really hot day then I'll take 2 and also stop for extra drink when I pass a shop.
I find that I can't eat for at least an hour when I get home

Like to ride first thing in the morning so anything up to 2 hours which is about my current limit, I usually don't bother with anything. Just enjoy my breakfast as soon as I get back. Sometimes shove a cereal bar in my pocket just in case I feel the need.

If and when I up my mileage I will probably have to give it some more consideration.

I would go get it all now but kinda out clubbin tonight yayyyyy :smile: freedom is great :smile: and then I'm being taken out by a gentleman friends for Mother's Day tomorrow all depending on hangover lol

Deffinatley poridge - had some this moring before i went out on a little local ride, the night before i find pasta and things like that good for getting your energy stores up :smile:

Milk after the ride with a bit of chocolate powder - no need to buy expensive supplements
