I left coporate world and now run an online business, all I use is my mobile and my mini Asus. I Work maybe 25 hours a week and spend the rest of the time playing out, on my cycle or scooter, maybe walking.

Particularly like cycling past big office blocks where I can see people at work stations, under oppressive fluorescent lights, slaving away, even better if they are looking at me, I am a very lucky person indeed:biggrin:

I meet with Academics, discuss their sometimes bizarre ideas for getting grant money and design databases to hold their research findings. I then code Admin websites such that they can get their data into said database (and maintain it) and also sites for Mr Average Joe / A.N.Other Academics to be able to search the data.

It pays the bills.

I manage a Casino, not as much fun as it used to be and have half an eye open for a change and starting to think might have to go to college. Often wonder what I would have been if I did'nt answer that little ad for Trainee Croupiers 23 years ago.

Maintenance engineer for a fruit import company...

Totally unqualified, precious little previous experience, i now find myself working on 3 phase electrics, PLCs, inverters, packing machines, weighers and conveyors.
Works took me to Spain, Cyprus and Uruguay, also provide technical backup to South Africa. (this is beginning to sound like a CV ;))

Never be afraid of a career change, even at 42 (then). I'm doing things i would never have believed possible 8 years ago...and loving it.

I work for a charity, helping vulnerable people in different countries to improve their lives. Fascinating and rewarding, and I get to some interesting parts of the world - mountain villages in Turkmenistan's closed border area with Iran, for instance.
