Just finished Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card - and bought the next in the series for the Kindle.

I've been reading on the Kindle for the past year or so now. It's very handy as I do most of my reading in bed. For a change i've ordered The Earthsea Quartet by Ursula K Le Guin (in physical form) from the library.

The Left Hand of Darkness by the same author is excellent - in some ways it seems like an initial stab at a future society somewhat like Iain M. Banks' Culture. A good story in its own right though, and well worth reading.

Yes. You're right. It is excellent. It's the only one of hers i've read though. I saw it recommended somewhere on CC.

The Almost Nearly Perfect People by Michael Booth. Picked it up at the airport en route to Addis last weekend. Having just spent a weekend in Copenhagen I wanted to learn more about Scandinavians and this book hasn't disappointed. He's quite damming about Denmark, where he lives.

The Heart is a Lonely Hunter by Carson McCullers

Southern Gothic novel set in a mill town in Georgia in the 1930s. I enjoyed it.

I bought one of those Amazon Fire Tabs to use as a reader and it got me back into reading. (Works ok as tablet too, after you get it rooted and put normal Android OS on it )

I also thought The Moonstone by Wilkie Collins was very good as well.

The Martian, Andy Weir - on Kindle/iPhone

First book I've read in years....it's great!

Not exclusive, but I'd guess an understanding of physics, chemistry, engineering and botany will make this more enjoyable. Lots of fun, looking forward to seeing the movie at some point.

The Good, the Bad and the Murky (Boak & Bailey)

The beer writers' follow up to "Brew Britannia". It seems to be available to read for free in lots of places - I got mine from the Kobo Store.
