What's the name of this book?
Fools of Fortune, by William Trevor. Everyone in my book club enjoyed it a lot.

Wonder if casting, let alone cost, held it up??

Interesting, although I think a film or TV programme of a book you have read can be a disappointment. The characters and scenes painted in your mind can be destroyed. A bit like asking a neighbour to decorate a room for you and the only guidance you give is the belongings that will be in the room.

Perhaps that's why 'Going Postal' worked for me, as it's one of the few I've not read
I did enjoy Charles Dance, as Havelock Vetinari, & that Swedish(?) actress as Angua

Finished Fool Moon - a solid, PI tale with a supernatural twist.

Moved on to The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, which is available for free from Project Gutenberg.

Just finished I Am Pilgrim by Terry Hayes, an absolute cracker of a book. Ideal for those who enjoy a fast-paced page-turning thriller/espionage story.

What makes it even more outstanding is that it's the author's debut book.

Yes. I really enjoyed this book, although it does seem to polarise opinion.

He has a background of screen writing for some fairly major films.

It looks like he's really struggling with his 'difficult second book' as it keeps getting delayed.
