Listened to this new live album Tales of Time, another belter from Joe

Need to give it another play i think. I thought it would be a 'tricky' listen after we lost Fletch ...

I think they've played a blinder with this. However, I do think that this is the last one from them. I can't see them doing anything after this I'm afraid.

Of the "Big Four" they are pretty much the worst. Doesn't help that Ulrich isn't the most pleasant individual, and not much of a drummer.

Agree. They were my favourite band when I was 13-15. But as digital content has become more available, they do seem to have changed into a hair metal country band. Hetfield always seems alright, but Ulrich comes across as a complete wet nobber who (compared to 95% of other metal drummers) is not very good. I have seriously wondered what they'd be like now if they'd had a different drummer from the start

Some of their tunes are great, but Anthrax are a lot of fun, Megadeth are too and Slayer are heavy.

Metallica are just nonsense IMO.

I think it is unfair to criticise Lars' drumming, he may not be an Ian Paice or a Mike Portnoy, but he still produced stuff like Dyers Eve. Talking of Portnoy, he included Lars on his list of top 11 drummers. OTOH, Lars is so far up his own behind that he probably suffers from oxygen deprivation.

That's fair enough. I just don't really like Metallica so I'm a bit biased.

It farked me off royally when they were all anti Napster and other Torrent based activity. Like, you guys are bajillionares, nothing bad is happening to you. Dr. Dre did the same, then sold earphones to Apple for ludicrous money.

Recently 'discovered' 'The Wellerman'; a sea shanty played normally and then in ragtime. Also 'Fur Elise'; that classic number, again normally and ragtime style.
