My wife’s Cateye wireless had her doing 70 mph with her foot on the ground.
From long before Strava or Garmin was a thing, but I remember clocking 82km/h coming down off Middleton Top in Cumbria on a loaded touring bike back in 2000 or so.
That’s brisk…..
Measured how in that case ?
On a Cateye Mity 2, I think. Old skool. I know it felt pretty quick and to be honest, with front and rear panniers it was deeply unwise!
We’re ’very’ flat in Norfolk / Suffolk. If I pedal hard as I can down the biggest (But short) hill near me I get close to touching 34mph. That’s feels brisk for sure. I’m not sure I’d be wholly comfortable doing 82kmh / 50mph 😳 Panniers or not 🤣

Went to the US in the 70’s on a Boeing 747, the pilot announced our cruising speed as something over 500mph. Does that count?

Relative to the Andromeda galaxy we're all whizzing along at 400,000 km/h towards it. Yikes. Brace for impact in 4.5 billion years.
