Terrible. I lost about a stone from January to March but I couldn't take dieting any longer. I've put on all that and more in just a few weeks. I can't stop eating, feeling pretty hopeless at the moment

I'm a bit like that, I reckon I could do just about anything for around 3 weeks before throwing in the towel. I'm now trying running at a tiny deficit sometimes losing nothing but not gaining feels like a bit of a win right now. I have lost a little without really feeling like I'm trying.

I'm still using the 'eat only when hungry... and, are you REALLY hungry?' approach. I was set to eat a biggish meal this evening but decided that I wasn't hungry enough to bother so I just had a bowl of porridge instead. I'll have a mug of tea and a snack of a couple of Brazil nuts, 5 or 6 walnut halves and a few raisins soon when I put the TV on. I'll have tonight's planned meal tomorrow night instead.

My diet started on January 1st, although my weekly weight loss has slowed considerably I have now lost exactly 2 stones or 12.7 Kgs, pleased with that.
I’ve done very little cycling but I’ve just started regular run/walks with my dog. I plan on getting back on the saddle now that the weather is improving.

Haven't shifted any weight yet - was sent a group photo from last week and I look a right bloater.

Going to try commuting in more regularly to see if I can start the reduction.

I put about 2 kg on over the winter, taking me to 81.5 kg, but with improving weather I am riding more and I am now back down to 80 kg.

I am still aiming to get down to 75-77 kg but am in no hurry. It would be nice to do it by mid-summer though to make my hilly all-day rides easier.
I am still making slow, steady progress; now down to 78.4 kg (12 st 5 lbs) which is not too bad for a 1.86 m (6' 1") male of medium build, but my target weight remains the same.

Later in the year I will have to start eating slightly more to avoid getting too thin. I think that I could manage that!

About a year ago I lost 1.5 stones and got down to 10st 7lbs. Since then (actually since January) I've piled on all the weight and have ended up at 12st 2lbs. I've started fasting today, I'm on my 3rd pint of water and it's not actually too bad. I don't know how long I'll go for; until I get headachey or feel sick I suppose. But I have tried going back on Keto and could not handle it. I then tried low fat but that was no good either because I ended up having cheat days which then lasted the whole week.

I'm about the same weight at the moment and I'm only 5'8", I don't really look fat either, 34" waist and a large size in most clothing, does no one tell you that you look a bit skinny as even I get that?

I was 75kg last year when I ran 4 times a week, then I had covid and couldn't run for 2 months, the extra weight doesn't want to shift but luckily it all seems to be upper body mass.

I have had a few people say that but I think that many people have forgotten what healthy slim people used to look like!

When I was at school 50+ years ago there were only 2 or 3 obese children out of 800+. Now there would probably be hundreds. It almost seems strange to see slim kids.

I am looking slim/slightly skinny now except for typical male pattern flabbiness - a stubborn roll of fat round my waist. I just checked - it is still 91.5 cm/36 in! If there was a way of getting rid of that (without liposuction!) then I would be interested to hear about it...

I did a 600 mile bike ride once. According to my OH that did the trick. Lost over 1 stone - which I have now put back.

She's now in favour of me going away more (success)

I'm the same as you. I lose it around my face first (when I lose weight) and the stomach is the last to go. It doesn't help matters that my abs are also not very defined, because I don't do any exercise. To get my stomach completely flat, I have to lose more from around the rest of my body than I would ideally like. But for me that is an easier option because my back hurts too much when I do resistance exercise

Similar to you peeps. I'm 5'9" and 78kgs at the moment. It hovers around the 78-80+kgs dependent on how much cycling I am doing and how much crap I'm eating and/or drinking. Though I'm not a big drinker by any stretch of the imagination, more binge then regular.
Like you @ColinJ I have that layer of fat around my belly that is so very difficulty to shift. My goal is to get to under 75kgs but it's proving to be a bit out of reach unless I go on a strict diet of which I'm not willing to do to be honest. So if I can get to 76kgs, which is 12stone then I would be happy with that.

In regards to your point about obese children. I agree 100%, though it's not just kids. It seems the whole population is fatter. I think I can quite honestly say that I see more overweight people then not when walking down my high street.

I’ve been far too heavy for the last two or three years and trying hard to lose a bit now. I think I have discovered that artificial sweeteners have been causing problems and actually making my sweet tooth worse. I was drinking lots of flavoured electrolyte drinks like high5 zero and other similar ones. Some have sucralose and others have stevia, but I think it tricks your body into thinking it has had proper sugar and then a couple of hours later I was starting to crave more sugary food.

I have just been having water lately and already feel I am losing my sweet tooth. I ate out with a friend the last few days who was visiting but I stayed away from sweet carby foods and had more protein and have dropped a couple of pounds.

Pretty sure protein and healthy fats are the way to go so hoping to finally get back to a weight I am happy with as it’s spoiling my enjoyment of walking, jogging or cycling carrying too much lard.

Yes same here. I'm doing the keto diet again, this time I've stuck to it so far, but there was a period when I'd have really bad sugar cravings. I switched from normal tea/coffee with 2 sugars, to Redbush tea/black coffee with no sugar. I tried having 2 sweeteners but it tastes so artificial I'd rather go without. I find salty/Umami tastes are very good at giving you that "thing" you are craving. But of course it only works on Keto (i.e. I had a cheese omellette for breakfast which isn't low fat but it is low carbs). Also things like chinese chicken curry but without the rice, or substitute cauliflower instead of rice. I always have hopes of eating a japanese/mediteranean diet once I'm at my target weight, but unfortunately most times I've lost weight I slip back into eating everything, followed by ice cream and a few cakes

I know the feeling. I have been a bit of a yo-yo dieter and binge eater most of my life. I desperately want to stick to it this time as I am miserable carrying extra weight.
