I got it the 1st time
. Went off and did some reading. Well I never - live and learn!

This seems the thread for me. I lost nearly three stone last year cycling, but alas over winter my bad habits came back and i put it all back on again!
Went out today for only the third time since october and really enjoyed it. Set myself a target of losing five stone before 1st june next year. If i achieve this i have promised myself a shiny new carbon bike. Should be an incentive to keep going through the winter this year!
Edit. Im 247 pounds and 6 foot
Its easier to lose weight in the winter months.Hi Nathan
Good luck with your quest. This is, generally, a very helpful and supportive site with good advice and encouragement freely given. Well done on the 3x15 miles. As said above - set yourself some goals and remember it will take quite some time to get you weight under control. You did not get to your current size in a few months.
Gaz's story is incredible and inspirational. It shows what can be done. Look back at the video a few times.
Plan for the winter months. It is harder to get out when there is wind and rain but it can be done.
Currently sitting at 98kg and would like to get down to 90kg but finding it hard to get there. I do not look fat, however middle age spread is all to see. Just cannot seem to reduce the weight down, if anything I would say it has gone up?? So assuming that I have built up more muscle over the last year or so. Think If I cut out the booze I would see a differance possibly but got to have some enjoyment in life!![]()

All you need is a scrappy old pair of trainers, old socks, a tee shirt, undies and a pair of footy shorts.
Go for a brisk walk with some interspursed jogging for 10 km.
Don't eat for it.
This is a common assumption, but from what I gather, it is not that often the cause. Muscle synthesis occurs at a rate that is slower than that of fat metabolism (especially if you are running a calorific deficit), such that even though muscle has a higher density, the net effect would be in favour of weight loss.
Have you never done this method of fat loss? This is a common assumption, but from what I gather, it is not that often the cause. Are you for real?
Have you never done this method of fat loss?
For an overweight Bar Steward, 600 kCals is neither here nor there.
I thought it was the "Don't eat for it" that you were referring to because in the quote, that sentence is in a larger font than the rest of the quote. No I haven't. However, since you seem to assume this the case, I should clarify, it was not the advice re. the not eating for it that rings alarm bells, it is the advice to go outside, under dressed for the conditions and walk/run around.

Another tip for jogging/walking in the cold. When it really gets bad, wear cricket shoes with metal spikes. You won't slip on the ice then.
When I was in the TA. It was std practice to keep tip-top through the winter. A 10km speed march in vest top and shorts through the snow.![]()
