Cobbled? We haven't had cobbles since 1975 when they tarmaced over them, though some are making a reappearance now as the roads are wearing down.
I wouldn't mind moving away from here but i wouldn't know anyone elsewhere. I've lived here all my life so at least i have friends and some family i can rely on here..

Accy,in the event(highly unlikely I know)that you are missing the"cobble"experience,I can help. There still exist, here in Carlisle,a few cobbled streets. Not many and fairly short streets too thankfully. However, for the Paris-Roubaix experience, without all the hassle of visiting Johnny Foreigner,I would be prepared to guide you around,no charge naturally. You will need full medical insurance though, the last time I tried it,the bike rattled,I rattled, even the cobbles rattled! Id only done about 600 yards and it felt like a bad day in Flanders^_^Goodness knows what it must have been like in the days when Northern cyclists wore the full kit of Flat cap,Gabardine and hobnails, presumably only the Whippet made it safely to the end of the road!Fancy it?;)

I forgot. We still have cobbles in the back streets in the Accrington area. From window cleaning in Blackburn for 14 years,i know that most if not all their backs are tarmaced. I think Burnley's are tarmaced too. I don't like walking on them and certainly do not like to ride a bike over them. Not only the bump effect but they're very slippy when wet.

Somewhere, between us all, there could be a marketing opportunity. A cobbled Eroica Brittania if you will.Give it some thought,if we could get a few daft punters, and if no one has an accident,we might just get nice new bikes.

Cobbles in the back street!!! C'mon, this is a wind up? My euphemism detector just overloaded.
Who's talking back streets?
