I agree that it is wrong not to supply special leads such as that magnetic one. I would be annoyed too!
I agree but it seems not uncommon particularly for small devices. When I had a Garmin Watch for a few months (early 2024 model) t also has a custom cable described by Garmin as "Charging/data cable" and the one I got has a USB-C plug on the other end ie same situation as the OP's Wahoo device. But I can see (certainly in the case of the Garmin Watch) that even a USB-C watch end connector might be a bit bulky. But from my Polar HR check monitor device I think a USB-C at the sensor end would fit fine.

Companies are trying to get away from supplying chargers with everything these days.
In fairness, one soon accumulates chargers after a few years of purchasing devices.
Seems environmental unfriendly to include a charger with every device sold.
As long as what's in the box is clearly stated it's OK with me ... we must read the small prints before purchasing though
Don't be like me!

I just got some new sockets and don't have a usb-c to usb-c cable to plug in. Maybe it's time for a new gadget.

I have a fair collection of "home electronics." Phones, laptops, tablets, media players, external USB hard drives, USB scanner, USB printer, Raspberry Pi, and similar small computers. About half of them are less than two years old, so it's not the usual collection of "old guy antique computer junk." ("Check out my Turbo 286!")

Only one device - one of the tiny computers - is USB-C. Almost all the rest are "mini-USB". I had to order a USB-C to A cable off eBay to power it up.

But you didn't make that clear until your later post!

We have all been replying to your original post which sounded like you didn't have a clue about USB-C.

I think that I have 2 chargers with USB-C charging sockets but generally I still connect to USB-A.

I agree that it is wrong not to supply special leads such as that magnetic one. I would be annoyed too!

I clarified it when it became apparent people didn't understand the sentence "To my astonishment it has a usb-c charging cable."

Cycling wise I use Garmin, Wahoo and Exposure. In the house we have three Samsung products. All I would argue are quality brands. None require a usb-c charging cable.

A brand new (August) Wahoo Roam doesn't use a usb-c cable. I feel at the very least a quality company should warn customers the product will probably require a new plug.

All Garmin and Exposure products now have usb-c charging ports!

It has later been clarified that he actually meant using usb-c to usb-c cables, which is what that device came with.

And while that is becoming more common, it is a fair point that many people don't actually have any wall plugs with usb-c outlets yet.

Most devices previously have come with usb-a to usb-c charging cables.

USB-C wall plugs aren't hard to get, but they are another £10 plus from the high street (Cheapest in Currys is £10.97 - https://www.currys.co.uk/products/goji-30-w-usb-typec-charger-10262518.html)

I have no faith at all in the reliability of USB-C, the plugs waggle around because they aren't held securely by the socket, and then break the connection if you accidentally nudge the cable.

They are vastly superior to usb-micro though.

USB-A is far too large a socket for most small devices and so-called usb-b was never really a standard, with quite a variety of plug sizes.
