Surely a USB wall plug isnt £15 .
Yes, it is from a shop, that is what I paid for it.

Here you go £9 ! Sure you could get cheaper if you hunted around.
Indeed, if you knew the name of it.
I didn't know, I just saw that my new tablet cable would not fit into any of my charging plugs.
Wahoo, in my view, are shipping a product that cannot work out of the box until the consumer buys a plug. It should be shipped with a plug or a conversion cable.
Well, as I said, I had the same feelings on seeing that I could not use my new device right away.
I'm not saying the plug should be supplied, but at least tell us we will need it.

USB-C at the wall end is ubiquitous these days. I have loads of kit that are like that.

You can pick up a USB-A to USB-C mini adapter if you wish to continue using your older chargers.

OK. To be clear. In the image below the black cable shows the magnetic connection to the TrackR. The opposite end is usb-c and requires a three pin plug with a usb-c slot

In the house we have numerous devices with a usb-c port on the device. On every one of these the usb connection to the plug is as illustrated by the white cable.

I have never seen or owned a device, including a three month old Wahoo Roam v2 and a three week old Shimano GRX di2, which required three pin plug with a usb-c slot to charge it.

Wahoo, in my view, are shipping a product that cannot work out of the box until the consumer buys a plug. It should be shipped with a plug or a conversion cable.

It is certainly not the standard charging connection. It may be on devices but not into the power supply.

That is a USB magnetic charger.

You can get them for about £3 on eBay with a usb a on the other end.

Honestly you are fretting over nothing. You can also get usb c to a adaptors for 80p on amazon.

Re: Sending it back. If OP sends this device back because of the USB-C then they'll also be sending back the next device, then the next, etc.

Indeed.

This is USB-C...

They are a big improvement on earlier types. The thing that I like most is that it doesn't matter which way up the plug is. With the old type I always seemed to be trying to plug them in the wrong way round!

Really? You think I don't know that. What I said was we have numerous devices with a usb-c port. On every one of these the charging end of the cable is usb-a - as illustrated.

As I said not a single device I own with usb-c uses usb-c as the connection to the power source.

I'm not fretting. My point was Wahoo are shipping a product which cannot work without the customer making an additional purchase.

If Wahoo wish to ship this they should provide a plug or adaptor cable. The alternative is to warn the customer the extra purchase is necessary.

Companies are trying to get away from supplying chargers with everything these days.

USB-A belongs to an ancient standard. USB-C is so much better in many ways. Everything is moving to usb-C. You can cling on to the past or accept genuine technology improvements.

Maybe you want to go back to this serial port which used to be universal. My first GPS connected to this at other end. I didn’t complain when we moved on to something better.

USB-A is still ubiquitous but most devices now are moving to USB-C on both ends as the standard. All the devices I've bought in the last 2-3 years have been USB-C on both ends. I replaced all the wall sockets in my house when I moved in 3 years ago - they all have a mix of USB-A and USB-C connectors as well as the regular 3 pin type G power socket.

As a general rule manufacturers are no longer supplying wall-wart power adaptors with new products as it's wasteful and the EU directives on power chargers for mobile devices make it clear they should assume that the customer already has one.

If you don't already have one I'd suggest getting something like a 65W GAN charger with multiple output ports (U-Green or Anker for example) for charging devices. Also you can get USB-A to USB-C adaptors for a couple of quid from Amazon for existing chargers.

But you didn't make that clear until your later post!

We have all been replying to your original post which sounded like you didn't have a clue about USB-C.

I think that I have 2 chargers with USB-C charging sockets but generally I still connect to USB-A.

I agree that it is wrong not to supply special leads such as that magnetic one. I would be annoyed too!
