And why "up"cycle? If its transformed into something smaller or less useful than the original item then surely it's been down cycled?

Surely 'up' or 'down' indicates movement or direction from a starting point. Has the object moved? If it is not moving then it is here as opposed to there. Here is here unless the object moves there. Then there becomes here. And here is here. Here is always here. Even when it's there.

I must say the same thing happens in French too. When I watch "Spiral", they shorten lots of longer words too. Shame.

I'm all for brevity, but the use of the word 'enjoy' as a sentence bugs me.

Waiting staff are the worst offenders.
For some reason i often have the idea that they may be being sarcastic. I think this may date from an estate agent waving me off to see one of their client's houses - it was basically sandwiched between two converging fastline railway tracks
