That all worked very easily - thanks.

I can now see that ride on the Veloviwer map. However the max cluster hasn't changed. I can't see any obvious gap anywhere. Is it now just a case of scanning tile by tile?

Glad it worked. The same website can also stitch together rides into one big ride if you have recording failure and switch devices

Max cluster is the number of tiles surrounded by other tiles which turn blue on your map . I suspect as your ride was a point to point ride it wouldn't add to Max cluster but just add extra tiles to to your total tiles

Ah got it. I thought it was the max number of connected, contiguous tiles.

OK so now I (think) I understand the rules, I can play properly

The max cluster does have to be connected, it's simply the biggest of several clusters.

4 clusters, two are 1 tile, one is four tiles, and one is 25.

Max cluster and a number of smaller clusters.

Note that this doesn't count as contiguous:

Train out to Wellingborough this morning and a loop back to the station taking in the south east corner of my max square to get 34 new squares, lots of bridleways, including a mile into this one and then back out again:

I came off the bike twice doing this bridleway, first time a nothing crash, landed on my side and just got back up. Second one I hit a rut, I went over the handlebars and bike came down on top of me, whacking great big bruise on my left thigh and a couple of scratches to my gorgeous face but other than pride, nothing really damaged. Bike is fine.

I'm now four squares away from extended the max square again, luckily all near each other, unluckily I need to go to Daventry to get them.

Bloody route planner. Altered it to make the route 50k and missed a tile... :cursing:
Do you use a device with chrome operating system as there is a velo viewer extension that when using Strava to plot routes overlays the velo viewer grid making route planning for tiles grabs easy
Edit if you think you entered the tile open the route in activities and sometimes it will refresh and give you the tile

I don't have strava premium so have to flick between tabs when route planning. Will get it on my next route that passes nearby

Thanks. I probably have the most challenging set up. Use Komoot to plan (handy for holidays to plan on the mobile) and have a Wahoo Bolt. Don't really need Strava Subscription to plan routes and know where I am on leaderboards. Will just have to be more careful in future...
When out on a ride there is a mobile app " explorer help for velo viewer " which will confirm your GPS location on a map with the velo viewer grid so you can confirm you have entered the tile
