that is a cracking time, the boy has talent.....
They do take a bit of getting used to, when you ride generally just use use them occasionally, I wasn't confident on them to start with, still not confident on them doing 40 mph down hill, I switch to the outside on my TT bike. It will come, just keep riding and learning. When I first got my road bike back in 2014 my first attempt on our 10 (as a practice ride) was a 33, by the end of 2015 I was 24.29.No apart from adding the TT bars but used them for 5 secs at a time due to inexperience of them. Would have fought i be slower due to road being wet

Yes totally agree, just don't feel safe on the tri bars down hill going round corners! That's pretty normal- not so much a confidence thing, it's sensible.
If you get to do 40 for free then tribars aren't so useful, if not pedalling you can hold the horns and be in a low tuck that wouldn't be sustainable under power.
Ok, I mean the bits to actuate the stoppy bits. The stoppy bits are in the same place on a tt bike
And that's what makes me nervous. I can pedal with the best of fellas my age, but my reaction speed isn't what it was. Quick Draw McGraw, I ain't.Yea they are still out in a normalish position on a tt bike , away from the aero bars.
It's not normally a problem unless something runs/pulls out in front of you! You just come off the tri bars in plenty of time to grab the brakes if you need to for junctions, corners or roundabouts, feels alien to start with but soon becomes normal. And that's what makes me nervous. If I had a TT bike with brake levers on the aero bars, I'd feel much safer.
Go for it. I did it with standard drop bars and I wasn't the only one.I fancy a spot of TT'ing. Not sure about clip on bars though, all the stoppy bits are too far away for my liking.
I think I'd need to borrow a TT bike and blat round a nice, safe trusted loop to get used to the feel.
Get down to a sub 25 and you can think of road racing.Update
finished my 3rd 10 TT on the old club course (new to me) finished in 32.47 took a turn early so had to turn round and really push to make as much time up
Give him his due, though, he's out there trying.Get down to a sub 25 and you can think of road racing.
And well done to him. But if he wants to ride a road race...Give him his due, though, he's out there trying.
