EDIT.............
TBH I'm asking on behalf of someone else............I have googled without finding the solution.
The person has sold their house and has to live in a flat for 6 weeks before the new house is available (each flat has to have its own licence).
I know a TV licence is for the property........not the person.
So......in theory he
a) loses what is left on his present licence
b) has to pay for a new licence........which will only be used for 6 weeks
c) then buy yet another licence for the new house.
or
am I missing something? eg can he get a rebate for the present house............then pay for the flat.........then get another rebate ?
Just found out..........he can get a rebate for present house. Does he have to pay for a full year on the flat...........then get a rebate after 6 weeks ?

Have you checked the TV licensing website? I would assume they are transferable/ between properties / refundable if not having a TV after moving?

For the sake of 6 weeks I would just risk it and not bother.
They will never be able to track you done that quick and you will have moved by the time they get around to doing anything about it.

It depends how you pay for your licence.
I pay by direct debit, so if I move I just transfer the licence to the new property, regardless of length of time I'll be there, and continue to pay my monthly amount.
If he knows he's going to be moving soon, that would be my suggestion.

It says if moving you can transfer. You can move your licence to your new address up to three months before you move.

Surely he'd be best to call them to discuss 0300 790 0368
Again....I thank you . I had not seen that.
