I 'high fived' dozens of kids. Its great to connect(not literally) with the supporting crowds. Imagine if folk tossed abuse because of the closed roads?
I did too, was real fun.

What wound me up though was seeing the High-5 gel sachets and banana skins (and water bottles strangely!) thrown on the ground by riders. There is absolutely no excuse for that. All my rubbish went into my pockets until I got to a feed station and the bins. Do some of these riders really think they are pros?!? These few gives all cyclists a bad name.

That is much like what I have said on facecrack. You get idiots everywhere , but can’t blame cyclists for the McDonald rubbish , mattresses and household c&@p laying in the ditch.
Went out the other day and there was a full bathroom suite in the lay-by - like to see you get that in your back pocket !

Our village collected 60 full size bin bags laden with fast food wrappers and other stuff from each side of the village verges. It was 40 man hours to collect all this rubbish. Its started again:cursing:

We are thinking of installation of secret cameras to record offenders. Hopefully a high profile prosecution will get the message around to the few who throw rubbish from their vehicles

I did see one very small sign attached to a wheelie bin that said "We object to our roads being closed" (or words to that effect), but it wasn't in one of the villages, but a house in the middle of nowhere (about 80 mile mark). Most people probably wouldn't have seen it, but I was going so bloody slowly at that point, I had plenty of time to read it!

In case any of you TOC riders are interested, the event photos are now available - they can send you all the ones of you based on your helmet number, if you enter your race number. Go to this page - https://resultsbase.net/event/4919/app/results - and click on photos tab and put your race number in the right hand box. If you don't know your race number search by your name in the results section and it will bring it up. There's a few of me riding with Tommy and Lee

There are some good ones of me in them. I know I'm a fat focker but I look bigger than I thought I was. I shouted to one of the photographers to take a picture of my back because of the print I had on there and he did, thanks Mr Photo . The preview pic of it looks ok.

I've just now felt recovered enough to drag the bikes in from the car and something didn't look right. The number tag was on top of the clamp ring for the seat post.

I then got the tape measure out. It looks as though the seat post has dropped by about 1.5cm. Could that have been a big enough difference to give me problems? I don't know, but it didn't help

Certainly won't have helped! 1.5cm is a lot - I'm surprised you didn't notice that.

Although any extended physical effort that's over and above what your body's used to can lead to cramp - particularly in the warm conditions we had on Sunday. I think it was warmer than it felt because of the wind, if that makes sense - i.e we were sweating more than we realised. (Tommy's jersey was covered in salt stains!)
