Does anyone know how the wave thing works in ToC?
Has it anything to do with the start number, or is it just first in first out?

If it’s like last year then everyone goes into a holding pen. Then It’s first in first out. We left it a little late last year and probably ended up nearer the back than the front.

By getting an early start pen, if you get dropped, another pack will come along. Tag on, hang in, if needs be drop off and repeat. You dont want to be out on the flat fen roads alone, hard work and slower.

By mile 25 groups were established and very few were able to jump from one to another. Only bigger packs were able to move position. I would expect it to be similar to last year where its frenetic for the first hour to two hours.

That's me buggered then ... with my bladder I'll be stopping after about 40 mins for a pee. Once I settle down i'm fine, but early on ... hmmm ....

Will def be looking to get into the pen early doors so I can try to cadge a lift off as many as possible as they come flying past

What happened last year was that there were lots of signs and instructions clearly stating you would not be allowed into the starting pens until a certain time and asking people therefore not to gather there early. So we waited until they were meant to open, sauntered over......and found them already full of thousands of cyclists! So we'll ignore that this year and try and get in a bit earlier!

@Whorty you do have to wait in the pens for quite a while (even us last year when we arrived late/on time), but there were portaloos where you wait near the start - and further back than that lets just say a lot of the trees either side of the starting pens were being well watered while we waited

That's nice to know :okay: I guess like most men of our age, once I get on the bike, the saddle presses on the old enlarged prostate and that kicks off the process. Thta's why on Zwift i have to start riding at least 30 mins prior to a race to ensure I don't need to stop for a pee during a race  Getting older has its perks, but there are definitely some downsides too

Lars, Donald Trump is coming to uk around the same time you are. He normally stays at the US residence in Regent’s Park and they block off part of the road as a result. Might be bad timing for you.

Those staying the Rad Bleu I have asked them to make breakfast available from 6am.

I've now got a place on the 2019 Prudential RideLondon on 4th August. I got an email offering Charity Places with NSPCC at half the usual target i.e. £200. I've taken up that offer and will now be going  Hotel booked in the usual place. Anyone else doing it?

Hmmm pricey but tempted...You got a link mate?
Do you know how it works when you ride for charity in terms of starting time? Did they ask you for your predicted finish time?

Got an email from TimeOutDoors and followed the link https://www.timeoutdoors.com/events...il&utm_campaign=TOD190519&utm_content=feature

Not had anything from RideLondon yet so I don't know how the timing etc. will be done.

The registration is free - so that is £60 saved from the normal entry - seemed a non-brainer to me.
