if we are all contemplating going abroad next year do you think we ought to look at bike bags ?
has anyone got one / or advise
sore today but must be the worse day so things can only get better !

I've got a bike box Allan Lee, nice box, a little, tight for my long framed Kinesis. I take the hanger and derailleur off, to make it fit in. Touch wood not had an issue with damage.

Ill speak and look over the others later this month in the Alps.

If you decide not to take own bike, I recommend take your seat with post and pedals. I know when I go with Tenerife bike training, they ask for details of your bike so to match you with correct hire frame. It is then set up perfectly on arrival

It makes my bovine scare yesterday seem mild. I was between two gates crossing a road assuming the gates were to keep the sheep off the road when a cow snuck up behind me and bellowed.Scared the cr@p out of me. I’ll get my revenge with the next steak.
Puts your bears to shame

I have a bike box Alan too. I think it’s one of the best box around. But saying that I think there’s a few good ones. I liked the look of the one Lars got recently.

You can hire box boxes and considering they’re so expensive I think it’s a really good option.

I agree with Kip too. Places like Tenerife and Mallorca have really good hire places. I’d probably take a bike. But maybe I wouldn’t. It would be fun riding something else for a few days.

Don't talk about @CXRAndy like that .... he's in front of you to help you draft him

I was shown a clean pair of heels at TOC, I only managed to tow Bob, Martin for a short time, then they were off again. Bob better climber and Martin with much greater experience and pace at long distance riding.

Nothing to be ashamed of really, I did ok overall, could of been better like always.

Any ride is a bit of a lottery. We are all, with a few exceptions, close enough to each other in performance that any of us could be the slowest depending on tiredness and lots of other factors. Look at me on IoW.

Whuaaahh:cry: I will not be getting another shot at qualifying for the world champ. TT this year. My wife is doing a run sportive the same day as the danish TT gran fondo. Seriously contemplating doing the gran fondo race the day after. 110 miles with a lot of climbing (+1000 meters)

I might of been a little closer to Martin and Bob had I not stopped and lost a slightly faster group than I ended up with. That's life
