According to the Met office, 20 and above is 'warm' and 25 and above is 'hot'. (Though you are right to a degree but I still have to agree with the Accy man - man up you softies).
Up here in the land pf Jock, 15 or 16 is 'tae warum, oh jeez' for some poor souls..
We've had up to a sizzling 12 degrees locally and there's guys in t shirts and shorts. F*ck that.

You can't say objectively that 18 is "barely warm", for many people that is quite hot. I'll be cycling with bare arms & legs at anything above 14, and find that quite comfortably warm.

By the time it is above about 20, I'll be sweating even without significant exertion.

Those are YOUR sensation s of the temperature, they are not objective values. We all have different sensations of temperature, and so different values for what is hot or cold, or the variations between.

I've twice ridden in shorts and short-sleeved summer jersey in the last week.

Commuted to work this morning with just the addition of arm warmers. Though at 8C it was just about on the limit for being comfortable in that outfit. I'm not expecting to need the arm warmers on the way home, when the forecast is suggesting 15C.

People incorrectly describing they took their car to the manufacturer to get it fixed, as an example "I took my car to BMW to get the brakes fixed" when really they should be say "I took it to the BMW Dealership" It really grates with me.

When you go into a chip shop and they say

"You will have to wait for chips"

I am more worried when I walk into an empty shop and they have chips - and especially fish - ready instantly

I have had some old soggy stuff from some chippies!

The one we use now is very busy - so the food is always fresh

One advantage of having Coeliac Disease is that I have to aske for it to be Gluten Free - so it is cooked just for me whan I ask

does mean I have to wait
and means that the fish is not given time to drain off - but it is worth it!

On which note - my Mum alway asked for whatever fish they do that isn;t Cod
she liked cod but if you ask form haddock then they cook it fresh
otherwise you get one that has been sitting around for an unknown time

That is no different to any other store. You don't say "I went to the B&Q shop to get it", you just say "I went to B&Q".

Our local chippie (Cowbridge) always cooks everything except the chips to order, the only other hot stuff left lying around are the curry sauce, mushy peas, other things that are ladled out into a tub.
