I had an application form this morning to apply to volunteer for Age UK

tried filling it in using LibreOffice - no good
tried Google Docs - better - but all the text boxes come up as drawings

weird thing

I think the concept is that you print it out and do it by hand then someone in their office types it all into a computer system
A clue might be how they have said they're expecting the form to be returned to them.

Good point

just checked and it says "return it to me" - no details
but it does also say that they can post one if that would be easier
which is a clue!

I have come across such situations where they actually specify returning by email and when I asked they say that most people seem to print it out, fill it in then scan it to send it back
One person said it was getting common for people to use their phone to photograph it - with variable results!

All of which seems ridiculous to me but there you go

I have looked at it again and every single text box it actually an editable graphic
so changing ti would be possible - but a lot of trouble and I'm not looking to impress them with advanced IT skills

soI may just print it out

things agaist that is that my handwriting is terrible and has got a lot worse as I have hardly ever written anything serious since the 1980s as I have always worked somewhere where there was a computer I could type it on
and yes - I do mean the 1980s!

I could ask my wife to write it out - but I am pretty sure it would involve a discussion about how I phrase things!!!

Referring to mild spring weather as 'hot' annoys me beyond expectation! How can 18 Celsius be hot, when it's barely warm! I'd say you can claim it to be hot when it reaches 26.5 Celsius and above. Anything below down to 15 Celsius is warm to mild. Anything below 15 Celsius is cool to cold! 🧐

It is all relative though.
While living in Canada is was quite common to see people sunbathing on the first sunny day that the temperature went above 0C.
Made all the stranger when 2 months later it would be above 30C and they'd moan if it didn't go above 20C.

You can't say objectively that 18 is "barely warm", for many people that is quite hot. I'll be cycling with bare arms & legs at anything above 14, and find that quite comfortably warm.

By the time it is above about 20, I'll be sweating even without significant exertion.

Those are YOUR sensation s of the temperature, they are not objective values. We all have different sensations of temperature, and so different values for what is hot or cold, or the variations between.
