I don't mind changing my clocks... pendulum & battery... but technology... in this day and age?!?!?
I was annoyed when my fitness tracker failed to adjust itself automatically, then it dawned on me that although it knows the date, it doesn't know where in the world I am (no GPS).

So expecting it to know whether to advance an hour, go back an hour, or not change at all was a bit unreasonable under the circumstances.

It needed to sync with my phone before it worked out what to do.

that's a step up from my Garmin watch which does have GPS and syncs with my PC once a day.
I think it's just a poorly considered design in several respects.

On cafe ordering:
What I REALLY find weird (and a bit resource-wasteful), but not really "annoying" is ordering from a table, on an app you had to download from "the cloud" many miles away, then sending your traffic back-n-forth - via the cafe wireless, their router, then more servers scattered round the country, and then - IF it all works - the server standing about 6metres away from you gets your order.

... which you could have done by walking over and chatting to the same human being (and addressed any minor ingredient/allergy issues while you're there).

<Sigh>
But then app developers wouldn't get their cut of the cost of your coffee, server providers wouldn't get their cut of your bill, in-cafe IT service provision company wouldn't get their cut ... and without all that your coffee would cost you half as much plus the cafe would be able to pay their employees enough to live on.

Plus, all those intermediaries wouldn't be able to track your taste in coffee, build a profile of your food preferences, wouldn't be able to track your movements and would not be making £££ from selling that data on.

Now I wonder how I could have been so selfish!

I used to sometimes go to a little cafe in Liverpool - Old Hall Street - I worked near there

They had an ordering system when they entered what you wanted on a computery thing and it printed out slips for each department
one for the kitchen for hot stuff
one for teh coffee/tea section
one for the pastries/cakes section

thing if - the place was about the size of a cupboard so all these 4 people (3 sections plus the person taking the order ) were pretty much touching each other
if they had been any closer they would have had to get married - sort of thing

weird system

Similar system is used in Italian roadside cafes, the kind that lorry drivers stop at. They are also where you will get the best coffee.
Just a tip to remember.

Somewhere west of Barcelona and south of Andorra in the middle of no where on a through road was a wooden shack of a café, literally. On the menu was ensalada mixta y macaronis. That was the menu, on a blackboard in white chalk.
We had oodles of the above, baguette and as much coffee as they could ply us.
Same thing - a printed poca nota.

Presenting this nota: 7 euros 20 which we thought was wrong, to the little chap - who was referred to in Spanish as 'Dad' by the waitress at one point in general conversation between staff (all 3 of them), I said "?La Nota; es correcto" He quickly tapped out the bill again on the printer machine thingy and presented us with the revised bill: 6 euros 20!!
My friend and I looked at each other and gave him 20 euros, 10 each, and he hurriedly looked for change but I refused it and just said gracias and walked away. He sat there looking befuddled with the 20 euro's in his hand.
And yes, the coffee was good.

Ok, you bought a big box of expensive fireworks...

For the 3rd night in less than a week you are scaring pets and waking up young children.

How about waiting until Bonfire Night or NYE to use them next time?

Were they letting them off yesterday? It was the end of Ramadan.

Ah - yesterday was one of the 3 days! There is quite a big Muslim population here. Are fireworks an end of Ramadan thing then?

Even so, what about the time before that, and tonight?

It's when they're setting them off gone midnight it gets annoying.
For people without nervous/sleeping family members/pets - yes, otherwise annoying at 9 pm too!
