Seemingly intelligent people holding down well paid jobs who can't get their head around the fact that putting your recycling bins out in a 40 mph wind will only result in one winner.

Yes, your bin will blow over, yes your plastic milk cartons, coke cans and assorted paper items will distribute themselves all over the street, and by the Law that is Sod's most of your crap will end up in my garden.

Would it hurt to wait for the next uplift?

If the bins are full, then yes it would.

At least a wheelie bin in lesser wind is pretty stable, used to a black plastic container which would go walkies in the slightest gust.

Just watched the RSPCA advert, just how insincere can an advert get. The caller in the phone, the RSPCA guy wiping a tear from his eye, the whole thing is dripping with insincerity and annoying the heck out if me. Who signs these rubbish adverts off fer chrissakes.

Well, I blame The Repair Shop

I don't understand why anybody watches adverts these days - just timeslip everything using a PVR and skip them!

That only works if you are watching TV over the air. If you are watching via a streaming service you don't have that option (even on catchup)

Unfortunately true, unless they offer an ad-free option, or it is on iPlayer.

My niece pays to avoid ads on ITVX.

A friend subscribes to All4 to avoid ads (except for a few that they are apparently 'contractually bound' to show).

I am annoyed that Amazon are about to bring ads in on Prime video unless subscribers pay extra to avoid them.

I subscribe to YouTube Premium to avoid the ridiculous number of ads that get shown there. Now creators are sticking more and more directly in their content. The 'brief message from our sponsor' type are annoying but easily skipped over but I had one slipped in so subtly today that I watched 20 seconds of it before I realised what the presenter was doing. He had gone from describing something I was interested in to promoting something else without even pausing!

FFS you've owned the bike for a while, you've taken pictures clearly showing the brand, so why not list the bloody name correctly on your Ebay listing. Don't get me started on the minimal info that some listings show.

I was looking at a Claud Butler Trailridge this weekend, I got that from one of the three photos, the ad title was 'Bike' and the description was 'Don't work'.

I have a bit more tolerance for this because I know the payment for this is going to them, not the massive G**gle money sink.

55% of the subscription fees for YouTube Premium is shared among the creators of the videos watched by subscribers.

Yes, that does mean that Google get 45% but they host the videos and that is not cheap - I saw a figure quoted of $5 billion/year in 2019 for that.

I think that I am already doing my bit with subscription fees without having to watch long promos too!

(I don't mind a very short mention of a sponsor. "Sponsored by 'Really Fine VPNs. Use my voucher code to get a 15% discount on their great service." would be okay. Unlike a 20 minute video that I was watching the other day which had a sponsorship segment which was nearly 10 minutes long!)
