Come on Duracell. No need for this amount of packaging. I’m sure they used to pack them much tighter.

On the subject of batteries, why are so many of them utter carp, they don't last five minutes, even Duracells are nowhere near as good as they used to be. Some of the cheaper 'basic' ones are an absolute joke, another waste of resources and manufacturing effort (let alone disposal of them) that the green lot need to get stuck into :cursing:. The only ones I find are any good are Energizer Max or Max+. I changed a set in the wildlife camera recently and I couldn't even remember when I originally put them in, they'd lasted that long. But of course they're expensive.

Ahh, the great battery discussion on how long / powerful certain makes of battery are - !
Unless the end user; us, is going to go to the endless trouble of exactly recording the precise us of any particular brand and then compare it with another brand on various devices, and then work out duration / cost etc., etc., it's all a bit academic.

If you check the data sheets supplied by the main industrial battery sellers you will see most 'legitimate' Alkaline ones are near identical in capacity, that being 2.6AH for the AA size. You only get that 2.6AH under low demand conditions.
If you actually need high power then all Alkaline batteries are a waste of time.

"Cycle commuting gives me exercise and gets me ready and fresh for work!"

Really?

It doesn't matter how I get to work, I am always ready for the day.

It does annoy me howa my mate cycles to work and keeps fit whilst I have to go ot on cold nights to keep fit.

Worst still is a running mate who a builder and therefore gets paid to keep fit...

Finally the likes of MVP who train on the Spanish coast....🤣🤣🤣🤣

Can depend on the context. Forensic, nuclear, electronic, medical, visible, military inspection or just my definition.
I gave observed over 49 odd years that my definition is not the same as the present Mrs Gwylan.
Oh, agreed. I was also less than clear: personal hygiene was what I was talking about specifically. Supermarkets are not pleasant sometimes...

I have some customers, a couple, who are both heavy alcoholics; they're always pleasant and one bought a bike off me last week.

When they talk to me I can smell the booze on their breath a mile away; it's a wonder they are able to ride a bike...

Which process? Giving birth, lactating, harvesting the milk - or the entire thing?
I confess I often wonder what went through the minds of the first human who had, and acted on, the idea of trying 'cow (or sheep, goat, pig or horse) juice' for themselves ...

I often wonder that about Fugu, although in that case it's more the thought process of the second person to try, especially if they saw what happened to the first.

This is more than trivial!! At 5.30 pm I lost two feathers, blown out of my hat band by this effing wind!! Four hours later I'm still traumatised!!

This is one of the two that blew away. I bought the whole box of hat feathers only the other week, to replace this yellow and brown one I lost a month or so ago. This was my favourite one. I wouldn't have minded losing another one so much, but not this one and now I've lost two of these yellow and brown ones.
