Videos taken on phone in portrait mode.

PORTRAIT!

It just seems so weird to me. Still photos, portrait, landscape, diagonal, whatever you like. But videos cannot be portrait.

What's worse than taking a portrait video? Watching it on TV. Ugh, all that screen estate just wasted.

Smart TVs (aka internet connected but whatever).

These TVs, with such under powered processors and WiFi hardware that leaves much to be desired - such slow, cumbersome interfaces and clunkiness built-in.1

Yep, never seen a smart TV that has anywhere near enough oomph to run it's own apps. That's why I always get a firestick for such things

That definitely WAS the case with my 8 year old Samsung.

My new Panasonic (a 2022 model) has PLENTY of oomph though. Instead of taking 30 seconds for the TV to start and another 15 seconds to get YouTube up displaying videos in at best 720p resolution, I can now press one button and be watching a YT video in glorious 4k/HDR in 8 seconds!

It has changed the way that I use YT. It is now so quick that I often watch a short video while my SLOW Freesat box is starting up!

The user interface still isn't perfect (some things take too much navigation to get to) but the processor is quick enough to scroll through content lists on YT, Netflix, Prime, iPlayer etc without stuttering or choking on them.

EWE must be joking!!

I have been getting irritated today by that report. A lonely sheep rescued from solitude was going to spend the rest of its life being spoiled on a show farm but protesters say that would be 'exploitation for money'... Free Fiona!!!

Over 14,000,000 sheep and lambs are slaughtered every year in the UK - now THAT is what I call exploitation!

Electrical fittings. Lights, Lamps, switches and the like.

Why oh why do they have screws which are unnessesarily microscopic? More annoying is that a single light fitting might have three different types of screw..............slotted, sub-atomic sized cross-head and a small but infinitely difficult to get started, recessed, cross head screw of a size rarely encountered. Add to that terminals that will only be accessable if you have three hands with six fingers on each.

All this while faffing about up a ladder with your aching arms feeling like they are about to burst. I can only assume that the designers have never actually weilded a screw driver or done any practical work whatsoever.

Crap design is, it seems, obligatory.

I remember the total amazement at one major light fitting maker when it was suggested that there should be installation instructions with our products
Lots of harrumphing and tutting.
A team member wrote instructions and then gave them to his wife to use whilst she installed a test product.
Everyone thought this was simply spiffing, totally revolutionary.
I was a naieve, gauche product manager recently arrived from a cosmetic company. There we spent ages writing articles on the best way to apply your foundation and so on. As well as providing questions and answers featuring our products for the agony aunts to drop into their columns

Toyota Prius taxis driving at 25mph obviously trying eek out the last watt of power from their little batteries!

Town planners why oh why do they feel the need to put a set of traffic lights on every junction! We obvs aren't mature enough let people out or not to pull out in front of an in coming car.
