Caught them twice yesterday. First on Pexhill then over in Mobberley.

Went out to watch the race pass by today. At the junction where I and a few others were standing there were cones all across the side road. There have been signs up for weeks saying the road will be closed today. It couldn't have been any clearer that it was closed.

Two cars and a van all came to the end and tried to pull out, one of the cars and the van before any of the riders had passed, the other car in between the main peloton and the trailing group.

The spectators had to stop them pulling onto the road, before fortunately some police riders passed by and lent some weight to things.

Muppets.

Talked to one of the organsing team today. They organized the whole race in 120 days. Lloyd’s Bank came on as a sponsor three weeks ago and they turned the whole branding thing round in that time. Absolutely phenomenal effort, it was great to be able to thank him for all the team’s hard work!

Another excellent morning at the start of today’s stage! My first trip to the National Cycling Centre, it was all very impressive! Got very close to the riders and even made it onto TV 😂 Fantastic weekend!
Better weather than where I was!

Crazy ending , dunno what the story was with Kopecky but seemed like a celebration to soon ...again!

I'll go see it in Wrexham.

Tour of Britain Women 2024:

  • Stage 1 – Thursday 6 June 2024: Welshpool to Llandudno
  • Stage 2 – Friday 7 June 2024: Wrexham
  • Stage 3 – Saturday 8 June 2024: Warrington
  • Stage 4 – Sunday 9 June 2024: Greater Manchester

Went to see it on Friday near Beeston Castle - pretty decent weather for them then. Great job with BC organising the Tour in such short time - I wonder if they'll be reusing some of this route for the men later on in the year ?

I think SD Worx were setting it up for Majerus to win the stage but Kopecky found herself a bit too far ahead coming off the roundabout so she really had to back off to get Majerus into position.

Very basic error from Majerus though - Kopecky's reaction at the end was a bit like "Christine, WTF have you just done?"

But I think Majerus,s bonus seconds got her up to 3rd overall so probably the plan was to give Majerus the stage but 2nd still gave her enough time

Yes she did finish 3rd overall. But she is retiring after the Olympics and it sounds like the plan was for her to get one last stage win. If she doesn't end up winning another then she only has herself to blame!

yes, although Kopecky being so far ahead meant Majerus was effectively on the front for too long and ran out of legs. Still a bit daft getting her hand up early though.
