It does seem odd but if it’s a private road they can do what they want.
I suspect they are more worried about the decent down narrow roads at high speeds with walkers in the road.
Going up will be at walking pace anyway for mere mortals.

you cant hike up the road either, separate walking trail. I assume its a safety thing due to an unfenced railway maybe or so you pay for an overpriced train ride...

Railways tend to be unfenced except in the UK

I love rest days. We all start talking rubbish or inaniites. So I would like to join the fun by asking a trivia question I've been wanting to ask for a few years.
Who is the only rider to win a stage of Le Tour de France and also a sub 4 minute mile runner?

And the chance only came yesterday. Twas Rusty Woods.

Here's a trivia question I asked upthread and I don't think anyone answered
Seeing that we're wittering aimlessly and Cav has been mentioned: Quiz question. When did Mark Cavendish wih the combativity award in the TdF and get to wear a red number?

Which team name would sound okay if Aldi were to sponsor?

Pogacar has done similar in a few stages already, but he will need to be the strongest for the whole three weeks. That's not easy.

Agree, but the same goes for Vinga. They both will need to be strong for the next two weeks so it should be fascinating to watch. I think Pogacar has learned a lesson from last year's TdF though and will be more careful about chasing other riders this time, which is why I say staying in Vinga's wheel is his first duty. They are both head and shoulders stronger than the rest of the peloton at the moment so it all depends who is going to weaken first.

Yes, either Pog or Vinegar or both will probably have a bad day(s). It's a long and difficult race.
