Having worked with Marc Reilly over the design of my Enigma and knowing his background and how he operates, I'd urge caution. PM me if you want.

Marc Reilly also made the Planet X Hurricane frame I bought.

As you can see. They are near identical (not hard being Ti)

Yes, they had some of the PX frames hanging up in the workshop

Just popping into this thread for a moment. I noticed recently they were selling the Pickenflick frame without decals, but they have added a fork and added £2-300 to the price now.
I like the idea of unbranded bikes, not sure what the consensus is on that.

Much prefer unbranded or subtle logos to show off the metal in full as per Ian's Planet X and my new Spa Elan (below). Too much black on the seat tube of the Reilly, sorry to say, otherwise it's very nice.

I bought my Pickenflick without transfers (decals :banghead:) I fitted them but as I wanted not as On One do.

You don't have to have any decals on the Reilly, that's just their stock look, they offer mirror logos, the blasted look, colour (although they don't recommend paint), custom design or nothing etc etc. I'll have no black, I'll also try to avoid on the wheels as much as I can too

Whereas, as far as I can tell, there's no customisation available on the Spa or PX (they are somewhat cheaper of course). I also want to be able to completely spec the components

Is the spa thru axle or QR. I've decided to go the former which is why I didn't yet go Enigma, the Reilly does

I'm pretty sure that's not the case, as with other Spa bikes, unless you're only referencing decals, in which case you probably are. (IYSWIM!)

Yes, I mean the frame. I've not looked at Spa but I might find myself in Harrogate later this month. They are a long way away, and if spending that amount of money, I'd like to be closely involved in the design and build, which I can more easily do with Enigma/Reilly

How much customisation of the components are you after as I certainly had some changes made from the standard spec. 11-28 cassette instead of the 11-32, a 36 tooth inner chainring instead of the 34, ti seatpost, the handbuilt wheels and was offered the option of three crank lengths. If you're after a full groupset change to SRAM for example, you should drop them a line to see if it is an option. I was going to ask about the possibility, but the 105 worked fine so I didn't! It's a QR on both front & rear wheels. If you do go up there by rail to see them, the're just round the corner from Starbeck station - don't get off in Harrogate (unless staying there overnight) as it's a 2.5 mile walk.

Good luck with whatever you go for:thumbsup:

Completely, I'll likely go Sram force and TRP Spyre mechanical I think. If I went Spa (an unlikely if as I want to have a unique design on the frame, tbc) , I'd get a frameset and have the bike built somewhere locally

I liked Reilly as basically they will source the parts wherever is cheapest online, not beholden to their distributor/supplier which should save some dosh with canny shopping

I didnt think the Spa frame is TA looking on the website which rules it out

I'll have the car as I'll be travelling over from Manchester where I'll be working the day before, be interesting to see their shop anyhow

I don't know if it was because it was just before the York bike show, but the shop appeared to consist of mostly demo models of various sizes and a few bits of clothing and accessories. It's not as big as you'd think, or that may have been because I only had eyes for the Elans!

From what you say, the Reilly would appear the better option with full customisation available.
