I'm getting a temporal headache

They didn't want to step in but their great genetic experiment lay in ruins, from 4 milion years ago when they took the first group of hominids from the jungle and genetically engineered them into modern Humans their teams of scientists had watched and recorded our progress without interfering but with the planet wrecked they had to step in.

I read a book a while back where a man died and went back to inhabit his younger self. Effectively came awake in his 18 year old body.
A second chance to live the same life. Not once but several times.

Anyway, I'd travel forward to the end of time (or would it be?) to see what the ultimate fate of the universe is.
