Well you couldn't go back before decimalisation could you. :okay:

Surely you'd get the equivalent like a historical Bureau Exchange. Also, what if you want to travel outside of the UK?

I'd go back to 1969 and stop the Soviets from sabotaging the moon landings thereby allowing the astronauts to return safely and preventing the escalation that lead to the Great Nuclear War.

Yes, but that would stop our first alien encounter and deprive us of the luxury life style and easy inter galactic travel we now enjoy.

Spotted this in the front window of a house in Staveley, L.District a couple of years ago

Quite amusing and apt for this thread:

I understand Stephen Hawking proposed something he called the 'Chronological Protection Hypothesis' which simply states that the past is set in stone & cannot be altered as it'll create a paradox which undermines your own existence. So you can go back & do anything you like, it won't change anything since time will act in a way to thwart you like inbuilt protection. In the oft-forgotten series of the late 90's 'Crime Traveller' they tried to pass themselves the winning lottery numbers into the past but it failed since they copied them wrongly (I think a digit was written upside down). So nature would thwart you no matter how many times you tried to kill Hitler. In theory though, you could leave information behind for your future self to discover but not change events.
That's why I didn't want to take the two hoards in their entirety. Leave some of it to be found as per history.

It's interesting everyone so far wants to go back in time except for on person who said 5000 years ahead. If I was younger, into would like to some time into the future but now being older, I have a slight preference to go back in time.

Not sure where I would go, there are so many. Relive my childhood, 5000 years to see the Egyptians, several million to see the pre-historic stuff. Idk, too difficult. Mind boggles.

I think the Babylonian era.

I was thinking that as I read through the thread.

Anyway, I'd travel forward to the end of time (or would it be?) to see what the ultimate fate of the universe is.
