Couldn't agree more. I wait in the far side, by the time my case comes around (which is usually last) I don't have to struggle around other people. Same thing when boarding a plane; it can't leave until everyone is on so I see no rush to get to the front of the queue. I admit, if you're last on then sometimes you have to wait for people putting stowing their things away, but it's not usually a very long wait
Same for getting off
Last time we flew anywhere we were in the middle and aisle seat - a lady was in the WIndow seat
When we landed I got out bag (one carry on - a small backpack) from under the seat and we casually put everything in it and checked around for anything else
The Lady was starting to fuss
We put the bag back on the floor and carried on reading
The lady was fussing quietly
Then the plane stopped and people started standing up and all that
The Lady was figeting and looking stressed
After a while she asked to get past us so we got up and let her past
tehn sat back down - the doors were not even open yet so she had to stand next to me - almost touching my shoulder for several minutes
If was quite funny when we wandered to the luggage thingy and she was there waiting directly on the other side of the loop looking at me
then our cases came out first so she got to watch me get them off and wander off before there was any sign of hers
DId mean we had to wait on the coach to the hotel - but I bet she would have wanted to be first to the coach
