OTOH, they might have poor circulation in their legs and feel more comfortable with those socks on.
I wear a similar sock on my left leg much of the time now since the leg can swell due to my clot-damaged veins. I don't actually need to wear the sock on the bike because the pedalling action stops the blood pooling below the knee, but if I needed to wear compression socks when riding it would be nice not to be judged harshly for doing so!
Mind you ... my vanity prevents me walking to the shops in long black socks and shorts so I change my socks for the 5 minute walk each way and then change them back when I get home!You're right. I didn't think about that. Apologies.
