Things you like to see invented

I don't think anyone's commented on the peculiar phrasing of this thread's title, which perhaps elevates it above the myriad of duller
"things-youd-like-inventing-that-havent-been-invented-yet" threads.

"things-you-like-to-see-invented" has a certain poetry to it, and for some reason I hear it in a lilting Welsh accent. (Perhaps Ruth Jones? I'm not sure ... )

There's lovely, isn't it? On the other hand, as a long term member of the RSPCA (Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Apostrophes) the title makes me wince a bit.

Buses with capacity to carry bikes. When I was in the states, I used buses with cycle carriers on the front
I can't see that happening in my city at least. The buses are usually late anyway, and waiting for someone to load their bike on to the front of a bus is not something I can see the operators allowing. Also there is the inevitable H&S/insurance issue. Many of our buses stop in the road, so a rider and/or bicycle falling into the road whilst loading is a very big risk.

Mobile holographic emitter ala Star Trek Voyager post S3E09. Being able to keep my bike (any bike) in my pocket would be just grand. Also the ability to switch it off and on again when the bike needed cleaning. So long as it has a very noticable low battery warning! It'd essentially be a new bike every time I switch it on. I'm not sure how much longer the cycle industry would survive at that point mind! Maybe we could subscribe to a bike designer for regular new bicycle designs.

It's already happening in quite a few UK towns and cities. What makes YOU special?? :P x

I haven't seen it anywhere, I can only speak for my own city of Plymouth.

Little nano-robot-insects that crawl over your bike and clean it by eating the gunk using their nano-robot-insect jaws, and lubricate parts with their oily nano-robot-insect spit. Then afterwards they retire to their nano-robot-insect hive to recharge after pooping in a container for safe disposal of bike gunk.
