Which was the more important British plane in winning WW2, given that once the Americans were in it was over: the Hawker Hurricane or the Supermarine Spitfire?

If the universe is expanding then what is it expanding into and what's on the other side?
Maybe the universe does not expand into anything because, as far as any evidence we have goes, it is everything that exists.

Or maybe
Essentially, if the universe is of infinite magnitude, it cannot possibly be expanding into anything. Rather, it's stretching (it's a fine distinction, but an important one).

AFAIK the Hurricane scored more goals but the Spitfire had a better PR team behind it.

Yes, but the Hurricane was obsolete quicker. The Spitfire was also obsolete by the time the Fw190 arrived, but had to soldier on because the Typhoon and the Sabre Napier engine were not ready, and Tornado had been abandoned because the Rolls Royce Vulture engine was no good. On the other hand there were more Hurricanes than Spitfires in the early part of the war. I read somewhere they were easier to build.

The Hurricanes were also better at taking damage - and easier to repair quickly
the original Spitfires were a bit of a pain to repair properly - but they improved this when they worked out exactly which bits contributed to it wonderful performance and which bits were less critical
I read somewhere that the rivets were flush rather than standing out - but this irrelevant in some places and the old fashioned ones were far easier to replace
