Sweden production of the model finished late 2017, so your chum might indeed have a Chinese built version.

Mrs D's Chinese MG ZS EV Trophy+ Long Range (the longest car name in history) has proven to be utterly and completely reliable in a manner the British car industry rarely managed.

When I bought the XC70 the fuel filler flap retaining clip was all taped up, not really noticing it I have never got round to investigating it. I decided to yesterday and watched SiRobbs YouTube video on this.
I removed the unit(2x T25 screws) removed the wires and tested the voltage for opening….yep, voltage. I decided to plough on and stripped the unit and re grease. Once reinstalled I now have a locking fuel flap. Small wins!
Dare I try to replace the strap thingy that drops the read headrest!!??
Having watched a vid it’s seems I’m almost certain to snap some of the plastics!

I had exactly the same on my first XC90. The original grease had dried out, but stripping the ervonfor amclean and re grease fixed it.

Ditto the rear wiper motor.

One for those who are wiser than I….all four corners are falken all seasons and I have had to move car parks at work, I’m now forced up to the 8/9th floor everyday and the commute is slightly longer through central Manchester. Previously I’d have to go up one/max two floors….the average mpg has dropped 3mpg at least….tyres the car park or the inner city stop start….I’m now averaging under 40mpg as per the Tory car computer(ie lying barstool).
I surpassed 227,000 miles yesterday!
