There's a "My Volvo Saved My Life" thread on Swedespeed with some quite alarming smacks that volvo drivers have walked away from unharmed.

The Volvo did its job today, with distinction. My wife was taking the kids to school, car coming the other way saw queuing traffic at the last minute, braked and swerved right, hitting the car in front then crossing into my wife’s path for a ~60mph combined speed head-on impact. The Volvo did everything right - emergency braked, deployed selected airbags, set the hazard warning lights and called the emergency services. Wife and kids shaken but not a mark on any of them. The other driver was OK too. However his car came off second best.

Tempted to get another one, but the Skoda superb ys meant to be better than a V70??!!

The wheel that was detached from the car actually split in two, roughly along the centreline, leaving the inner half still in the tyre and the outer half lying where you can see it.

To be fair, the V70 has been out of production for a while now. Wven so, if compares favourably unless you're in the habit of running people over.

I went looking for a car for my sister and came home with a mk1 MR2.

Wish I could swap my sister for an Xr2

Been busy cleaning and making a snagging list. Nothing major. Calipers need a repaint. I would like to have them pro refurbished but it only had new brake fluid in January so I'm loathe to remove them just for the sake of it. That being the case I'll mask it all off and repaint them, either silver or a very light gold.
