He removed the lense from the car?
Which is what I need to do!

Ah sorry, you mean the headlight unit. The lense is inside the unit and I thought you were trying to remove/mess with the reflector.

Took the Octavia PHEV down to Newbury to stay with my parents this weekend because my wife was flying out to India on Sunday morning. On the way back yesterday, without the little battery having any charge when I set out, I got 58.2mpg, which is a fair bit better even than the diesel Kia that it replaced.

When running as a mild hybrid, it's weirdly smooth as it switches from one propulsion mode to the other. I'm impressed!

So I smashed the rear screen of my Octavia MK2 estate.

Found a replacement boot for half the price of a replacement screen however having fitted it it seems that the electro mechanical boot release isn't working?

I wonder if it's been changed between the yrs 09 -12

So I don't have a working boot release.

I could use a bit of cord I suppose but it's annoying!

My 15yo Octavia Estate has been given a death sentence by a second garage today - uneconomic repair. Fixes required for gearbox oil leak & differential linkage, plus water pump failing and tyres required. Only really standard wear& tear until last few months.
😥

More bothered about putting the effort into finding a replacement - not too worried about costs but I'm not into cars and not much clue what I want/need. Might go for a small camper for the small amount of local driving plus plus trips away with Mrs MM, and want to move down to one motor vehicle.

Can you swap the mechanism and loom from your old one?

Last week turned out to be pretty challenging.

The turbo has been passing a little oil and filling the DPF, or so I thought. Turns out the DPF getting old was causing back pressure and damaging the turbo.

Decided to give the job a go myself, which should have been a 2 day job, given the book time is 10 hours and I was doing it at home on the drive. Started fresh on Wednesday at 8am and finished....... Saturday at 3 🙄. Putting in around 35 hours.

Absolute pig of a job which was mainly down to access for removing the DPF with all its associated parts.

It didn't go back together too bad considering.

Car back up and running...... for now 🤣

One of the problems with a DPF on diesel cars is that the supplying dealer never tells the customer that it needs to be regenerated, and how the regen process works, most people learn that when the DPF warning light comes on and it’s too late.

Turned out there were three earth's rear lights?
