The recently-acquired Citigo has blotted its copy book already. After the failed headlight bulb came a persistent engine management light. The engine had fluffed its lines a few times on very light throttle but nothing serious and it always pulled cleanly when accelerating. However after a long fast run it threw the light.

I acquired an OBDII reader and found theee faults. Two were intermittent and not current (so presumably had happened some time in the car’s life but not now) but one was active - P2096, essentially indicating lean running from the post-cat oxygen sensor.

Could be the sensor, could be an air leak, haven’t investigated further yet. However I did reset the errors and the light has stayed off since.

I love my 2019 Octavia Scout, totally reliable (so far) and the 4 wheel drive, with 4 season tyres has never failed to get me out from some tricky kayak launch points.

My wife is running a 2015 Fabia and one of our best kayak/cycle friends runs a Yeti.

First long run in the newer VRs this weekend 200 mile round trip averaging 59.5mpg.

Happy with that compared to the last car which averaged around 32-34 on a run.

How many miles has it done?

Very impressive ability, given the nature of the ground, & the fact that they all seem (as far as I can tell) to be on standard (ie; road) tyres!
Q3 wheels on the bronze Kodiaq?

Saturday 14th

I took my mother to the local doctors surgery this morning
Somehow she managed to knock off one of the door-edge protectors (coat/handbag?)
It will clip back on, but doesn’t retract

I’ll have to have a look around the Kodiaq Owners Forum & see if there’s a trick to re-engaging it
I’ve no idea if it’s an electronic application, or somehow mechanical from the hinges?

After just over 300000 km our trusty 2009 Roomster died the mercantilistic death of a broken clutch (fortunately roughly 1km afar from the garage where we wanted to put the winter tyres on) three and a half weeks ago.

Ten days ago I purchased a second hand Fabia III hatchback from 2021 with 34500km on the ...errm... "mile"ometer. It has got the 1.0l engine with 70kW instead of the 77kW 1.6l of the Roomster. Don't notice any differences in acceleration. I'm far from a pedal-to-the-metal car driver in road traffic, so that doesn't matter much anyway. But the smaller engine requires more awareness for coherences of speed, incline and gear. On the other hand I expect a notable lower petrol consumption.

Next thing is to figure out how to remove the backseat bench to gain space for bicycle transport inside the car.

With regard to the above concerning the door-protector, I'll try this tomorrow afternoon
https://www.kodiaqforums.co.uk/thre...-protector-off.2251/?post_id=22774#post-22774

I had a look at it a few minutes ago, having given the junior school opposite time to empty & all the kids dissipated
It took 3 attempts, as I can't have pulled it out far enough
'3rd Time Lucky', it's fine again, & extending/retracting as it should

Wednesday 8th

Given the (possibly) rather icy nature of the roads this morning, before 05:00, I decided to drive in
In a way, it was a good choice, as almost every yard of road, until Aberford Road/A642, was glistening with frost

On leaving, at just after 14:30, there was an Enyaq parked next to me

The ID3 belongs to a husband & wife, who work there
He keeps telling me that sometimes it's a difficult choice, what level to pre-heat the interior, the seats & the steering wheel to!!
(I've no idea if he's kidding about a heated wheel!)

Our Cupra Born has this feature, blooming marvellous! Not having to defrost and stepping in to a toasty car is the ultimate luxury.

I took the Citigo into work today, must have taken over 15 minutes to defrost it and warm it up.
