Just replaced our Mini with this, our first ever Skoda, a 2016 Citigo Monte Carlo, only done 19000 miles. So far, so good, it’s a really nice little car.

Mrs Gunk is completely smitten

I like it

I tried to talk daughter into one as her first car, for some reason she liked the Vauxhall Adam…
Which was replaced with a (brand new) M-B A-Class

A Nurse l know has one
(found out who owned it, after this photo was taken)

The time has come to get rid of thr Mk1 Octy VRS after 8 odd years and 70k miles. Really sad for it to go as its been such a reliable car (apart from blowing the box apart) but this years MOT might be costly and there are some maintenance jobs that need doing. She's getting tired now.

So out with the old and in with the newer. Finger crossed this is as reliable.

Sorting the couple of bonnet chips this week and wheels might need swapping/painting at some point to tidy her back up.

Great motor and massively improved on the Mk1's

I'm about to return to the Škoda fold. I last owned a Škoda in around 2018 - a Yeti SE TDi 140 4x4. That was a great car. Some years later my daughter is soon to turn 17 and I thought it would be good to have a car she could drive for practice. We have a MINI EV and Volvo XC40 in the household but neither are manual. We are encouraging her to learn in a manual because she is planning an equestrian career so may have to drive trucks or 4x4s with manual 'boxes.

So, on Saturday I am planning to pick up a 2016 Škoda Citigo SE with the 60PS 1.0 engine. I've had a test drive of it and it was a lovely thing. Mechanically and electrically sound, a basic, uncomplicated car but with some character. It's not going to win any drag races but it gets along well enough. I learnt to drive in a 1.2l Vauxhall Nova with about 55 bhp so this is actually more powerful although possibly a bit more weighty.

It is many, many years since I last bought a second hand car (around 25 years it turns out) or had one that was out of warranty and up for my own tinkering. I'm quite looking forward to it. It'll be a household car, so my wife and I will also use it to keep the miles off of our PCP cars and if it doesn't work out, we can punt it on.

So, plans changed and to avoid a handover during Storm Bert, I went and got it this afternoon. It was a 30 minute drive home and what a great little car! Absolutely no frills, but honest and charming. I even managed a couple of overtakes of some countryside dawdlers.

However, I have already had the first problem. For the first time in decades I will have to change a headlight bulb as one failed tonight. It’ll be an opportunity to upgrade to Nightbreakers or similar (although I was quite impressed with the headlights before one failed).

And posting this message reminded me that I probably had a spare H4 bulb somewhere. Sure enough, a couple of minutes rummaging and 10 minutes swearing at the H4 connector corroded onto the incumbent bulb, we’re now back in legal post-dusk business!

Glad you’re enjoying it, it is definitely one of cars that’s better than the sum if it’s parts. We bought ours for exactly the same reason and it’s ended up as a great learner car as well as an excellent second car to go with our Cupra Born. We also have a 2016 60 bhp version which has no trouble keeping up with traffic and cruises easily on the motorway at legal speeds.

The only down side is that they are a bit noisy, especially in the rain, I have now now fitted genuine rubber mats which do improve the sound proofing.

stick a photo of yours on and I’ll keep an eye out for you!

Hmm

There's an interesting 'twist' on the SWMBO wants me to sell my Kodiaq saga
I'll admit, that due to health/mobiltyissues, my father might have considered selling his Fabia to us, but then he did this, but then my mother had her licence withdrawn by a DVLA medical panel after review, hence the 'free Corsa

Now that Mrs T has sold the business/'retired', she's told me she's considering buying the 'works van', as she likes it
(or, knocking her half off the monies, when they're split '50-50')

That means that her Q3 will be sold, & the 'free' Corsa too, meaning........... I can keep my Kodiaq, & not have to sell/px it to get an automatic!!

This Favorit sat on my drive for three years before I finally sold it to a member of the RAF motorsport team. The transformation from mundane hatchback to full blown rally car including left hand driver conversion is amazing.
I went to Donnington to see it in action on its first event and I wasn’t disappointed

It’s been a classic Skoda week for me ! First seeing my old Favorit compete at Donnington and now acquiring this little Felicia which is going to be my daughter’s first car. It’s not perfect but it has 12 months MOT, runs sweet and only has 51k miles on the clock.
Even though I have my lovely Octavia, I do miss the older cars
