welsh dragon

Thanks but no thanks. I think I'll pass.
I have returned. My god Aldi and Morrisons were heaving. I did not like it one little bit. Didn't spend a lot of money got some petrol and then hightail it back home.

THinking of supermarkets

Tesco car park was pretty much full yesterday
shop was busy but not as bad as the car park implied - I presume people were using to and walking to the High Street

anyway - doing the shopping was interesting

I like to stave off the annoyance by looking at how people behave - which is an advantage of being retired and having the time

people were shopping as couples - which was causing LOADS of problems
they were wlaking up the aisles side by side with the trolley - hence taking up twice the normal width
which meant that when 2 people parked opposite they took up most of the aisle - that was OK if they parked right up to the shelf - but most left a gap which meant a blockage

and people were standing at the shelves and discussing the options in detail - hence taking loads of time longer than normally

and when there was a staff member restocking or sorting out a shelf - then people were suddenly unable to realise that parking opposite it caused an immediate traffic jam

it is weird that perfectly normal looking people seem to be unable to operate in a colaberative manner when shopping as a couple near Christmas!!

it was also amusing that sometimes someone would be in my way and would move out - or I would move out of their way - and we exchanged an amused smile to each other
happens sometimes in normal shopping times - but yesterday it was quite frequent

people are very strange except people on here, obviously, as we are all normal!!!

I might pop round for a few bits and pieces too. Christmas is just another day for me, but I might treat myself to something different to eat if I see anything I fancy.

I see on my Facebook memories that on this day 13 years ago I collected my last salary from the Prison Service. Don’t know where the time has gone.

I was listening to a phone in t'other day. They were discussing 'who has the hardest job' . One woman phoned in to say that she was a retired police officer and that job must be the hardest job to have.

Hmmm. Ride abandoned after ½ mile with a seatpost issue. It kept dropping as low as possible. Chucked at the LBS. Not happy! 🤬

TRAFFIC! Good Lord where have all these people appeared from. Yesterday was bad, today is horrendous locally.

On the other hand my dear friend has been in touch. I sent a card and short note to reach out a few days ago. I've received a reply, I now understand the almost two years silence. I'm very happy about this.

At least the police get to hand them over. We were stuck with them for however long their sentence was.

I have heard that said before

by a Police Officer!!!

I have also heard people say that teaching is harder
not sure about that one although the way some teachers taught they just made is bad for themselves

When I was in IT I came across IT staff that had an incredible hard job
It didn;t need to be but the way they were pushed and the company was run made it exceptionally stressful

One guy was working 16-18 hour days 6 days a week and had been for years
Apparently he had been part of a medium sized team developing a major system for the company
as the system stabilised they needed less staff
then even less
then some left and were not replaced
until he was the only one left and he didn;t have time for him to train anyone else

He was paid a fortune but it was never worth it!!!

So - point is - a lot of jobs can be bad at times - but os lot of the worse ones are like that because of the way they are run - especially when the manglement have cut costs left right and centre

e.g. - Mo - how much easier would you job have been with far more staff including counsellors and psychiatrists and all that jazz??
same would go or the Police I expect

but lets not go on or we will be exiled to "the other place"

People in shops - Chapter 2

Just been out for a "last few bits"
i.e. the ones I couldn;t find anywhere before - some I forgot some I couldn;t find

ANyway - people
I was behind a young lad - about 14/15 in ASDA in the queu for the self serve tills and he asked me to move so he could get some flowers

He grabbed some nic purple ones and noticed me smile
he started talking and said they are for his Mum for Christmas
He also had a small spikey ball that he said his little brother will love

How nice - teenage lad going out on his own and getting some little things on his own initiative!!

Next - had - go up the High Street for "the rest"
Nipped into "Angel Dust"
Lovely shop selling all sort of "alternative stuff" from scented things of all kinds to stone and crystals
I wanted something small and nice for the grand-daughter - but not specifically girlie

Saw an awesome crystal skull - with no price on it
thought I better not as her Mum would kill me!!!
Aso saw a selection of beautiful crystal wands - not too expensive so probably glass but whatever

Thought about it but
a) too easy to break especially with 2 little brothers in the house
b) teenage girl, little brothers (one "special"), hormones, magic wand
hmmm - now I don;t believe in magic but just in case...........
better not

Turns out that M&S have much narrower aisles that the big places - but people are more polite
buggers still didn;t have any gluten free Christmas Puds though!

Did manage to get frozen mushy peas from Heron Foods - which is very scruffy - nowhere else had them
but again the people were polite and generally nice
so I can now chuck the old ones out as they are "Best Before 2022" and replace them with some that are newer before SWMBO discovers I have been feeding her expired mushy peas all year!!!

ended up at the very far end of the High Street and got to Morrisons
Finally ran across Gluten Free puds by accident

anyway - back to people
in Morrissions there was a older couple sounded quite posh and well to do (in Widnes????)
anyway they stopped an assistant and asked him if there was any unsmoked gammon joints
he said he would help them look
but thye insisted - in quite a supercilious tone- that they had already looked and there were none there and they wanted him to go and get one "from the back"
I think they regarded him as useless as he was young (18ish??) tall thing with longs hair
she repeated the "unsmoked gammon joint" bit again
then he repeated it just in case the lad had not heard
anyway - as he went off the man said to the woman
"if he comes back with smoked there will be hell to pay!!!!!!"

after a few seconds they got hold of another assistant - a middle aged woman this time
and asked her very nicely to go and check on the young lad in case he had not understood!!!

cheeky bar stewards!!!

anyway - I was looking for bacon at the time so I was near the gammon sort of area and had a look
nice row of unsmoked gammon joints - exactly was the had "asked" for all nicely on the shelf

I didn;t go and find them and tell them because I am nice like that and would have sounded sarcastic

anyway - aren;t people interesting??
