Good morning folks. Bin day today due to revised Christmas schedule, Veg box too. Daughter and grandson are travelling down from Leeds for Christmas 👍
In other news I had a play with the hearing test* function of my new Airpods Pro. It told me that I had mild hearing loss in my right ear and generated a personalised hearing profile. I mostly use my airpods to listen to Podcast while out walking, but fast forward to Saturday afternoon and a crowded and noisy Barking Cat beer festival. We were sitting at a corner table just below one of the jukebox speakers and I was struggling to make out our conversation. I had a rummage and found that I'd got my airpods so thought I'd give them a go. I was absolutely astonished. When I put them in my ears the noise faded away to a quiet background, and when my friends spoke the noise dropped further and it was as though there were just the four of us chatting. It was interesting that when none of us were speaking the background noise slowly increased but was never intrusive. I suppose this must be what people experience when they have hearing aids, and wondered if there's anyone with both who could compare the different experiences.
* AIUI, Airpods are recognised as a medically certified hearing device in North America and many other countries, the UK hasn't yet approved them. ( If the hearing test detects more than " mild to moderate " hearing loss then it won't generate a hearing profile )
