Thanks but no thanks. I think I'll pass.
Rachel Reeves is musing the idea of slashing the annual cash ISA limit to £4,000. Cash ISAs are a safe place for money to earn returns tax-free and be accessible, hence pensioners like them. S&S ISAs carry a risk of losing some or even all of your money.

The chancellor wants to encourage public investment in the stock market rather than having cash locked up in savings accounts.

Abd what will happen if and when she loses all that money playing the stock market....

We had cottage pie. I can't move now.

Blue skies and sunshine here :sun:

Morning all. Can I be a junior member.

Why ? I hear you ask.

Well I received my first monthly pension today from one of my schemes. Hitting the magic age of 55 recently this was a case of taking it now or at 67 with a tiny hit on the monthly amount. That's going into savings.

Now classed as retired on that pension.

There may be an entrance test you have to pass

Question 1 : " What do you know about very large bloomers ? "

( Other questions to follow)

Exactly the same in the dibble. Civilian HR (Human Remains) sorts who'd never walked a beat or read a legal tome in their live telling us how to do our jobs, and then scratching their heads when their ridiculous ideas didn't work.

One of my fellow sergeants had a masters in policing science and when he pointed out something wouldn't work besause of x, y or z he was labelled as a trouble maker, even though he always turned out the be correct.

There's old saying, something along the lines of "those who can't do teach."

Want something f****d up good? Give it to a senior leader in the public services to sort out.

I did it - then taught it
it being IT

The teaching was much enhanced by actually knowing how it worked in reality

Some (not all) of the teachers who had gone school - university - teacher training - school
were horrendous in their knowledge of how the real world worked

I was lucky to mostly worked in a technology department of a large school - i.e.with people who knew how to nail 2 pieces of wood together and make them work

some of the other departments were rather difficult to talk to!!!

I need help - I am in shock

we are about to go out for dinner
my wife has put a grey dress on and asked what I thought of it

I did the normal - you look lovely dear etc etc

and she looked at herslf and said
"You know the dresses that you buy me are always very tasteful"

What??
firstly - OK - I migth wlle have bought it one Christmas - but I don;t remember it
b) just WHAT??

anyway - for the record - her previous husbands would not be accused ot good taste in that way
and her sister's husband should basically never be allowed near a dress shop unsupervised

so maybe she is just pointing out that I am improvement over her previous experiences
which - to be fair - is managing to clear a pretty low bar - but hey - I'll take that!!

Mrs D was a teacher, 2nd career after the dibble, but during the early stages of the Covid pandemic her head moved her to replace his recently departed PA/senior admin. He did this as a temporary measure at the same pay to reduce her risk of exposure because of her MS.

She went from senior admin to business manager at another school, and is now Director of Buisness for a group of schools in MK.

Aside from working strictly office hours at term time only (a few hours rrom home over the holidays checking payroll stuff) for twice as much as she ever earned as a teacher, she says she'd never go back into teaching.

I don’t think in 25 years I’ve ever bought my wife an item of clothing. I struggle to choose clothes for myself let alone my stylish, glamorous wife!

How often should Y fronts be scraped clean?

No comment. Turned front back and inside out ?

One of the great lies. “We’re from Head Office and we’re here to help”

At leat she knows what it is like at the coal face

I worry about people who say teaching is easy - just stand there and tell the kid swhat t do

Ohhhh - it is soo much more than that

even people who have come to a school and stood in front of a class and "taught" then stuff have been standing on bricks painfully crafted by other

Same a snew officer arriving in the Army and their NCO
and new PCs on the beat depending on the experienced constanbles who have been there for 20 years
and all that

anyway - after 1 1/2 bottle of wine I should probably shut up
but anyway

see you tomorrow - or later today

as you can see my typing is even worse
