It's been the most beautiful day so far, clear skies and sun since daybreak. Ideal winter cycling weather, yet 15 miles away my buddies abandoned ride plans due to thick wet fog.

No one would light a fag while filling the car so........🤔

Good news! My accountant reckons I'm due a £351 tax rebate. Hot diggity!!!

But Rachel needs that money!!!!!!!!!

Let joy be unconfined and let the bells ring!!!

contacted the hotel where the Wedding (capital W) is being held

mentioned that they seem to have allowed the Bride's mother book some rooms and not the Groom's mother
and how this might not be a diplimatic move

all done in an amusing but firm manner

so room price changed to the same as the other parent's (it was £30 higher) and room booked for 2 nights
didn't mention that the Bride's mother has been charged £160 for the Friday night and we are now being charged £125!!!!

thought I was going to have trouble there but it was all fine in the end
as it normally is if you talk nicely to people

Talking of money.......not sure how this works but......my dental work is NHS but still costing me £320.00.
I said to the dentist "as my new top teeth will be white I want my bottom teeth polished/cleaned to look similar".
I can't have that done on NHS, it will cost me over £100.00 (to have them whitened).
I said "OK, for £100 is it going to work"?
He said "it will improve them"
(I am getting annoyed now) I said "that is no answer, I can 'improve them" with a bit of sandpaper, if I am paying £100 ONTOP of the £300 I want to know that it will work"
I didn't get an answer.

NHS has a 3 tier banded pricing structure. You are having Tier 3 treatment which is the highest band.

Your new top teeth should be matched to the natural colour of your bottom teeth - which they would be after a routine polish. This is usually included in the £26-ish, 6-monthly routine check up, scale & polish.

No one naturally has bright white teeth AFAIK.

It ever so slightly lessens the pain of the enar 18 grand tax they had off me last year.

I don't know how the government can be so strapped for cash the amount they take off me

Haha! I know the feeling.

What I paid each year at my peak earnings (1999 to 2004) was way beyond that tbh and when totalled for the 5 years almost makes me cry when I look at my Gov' Gateway a/c history.

We are a massively over-taxed nation imo - bad enough with direct taxation but when you add in indirect taxation it becomes absolutely crazy.

And don't get me started on IHT, which really grinds my gears. :cursing:

Dentist is probably too pre-occupied thinking about how he/she is going spend all that money you are going to pay them 😊
