Well that was fun! Heavy laying snow to the M61 and the outside lane looking pretty iffy. It must have looked iffy to everyone as there were no d******** tearing down the outside at 80mph. Whole motorway moving at 35/40. Impressive.

About a mile from our house the road goes into a steep left hand dip. About 30 yards out of the dip there's a side road on the left. I'm about 20 yards from the turn. Thinks "he's sticking out a long way." I started to slow so I could watch the Range Rover slide gracefully across in front of me. The driver turned right, waved and smiled.

I didn't wave or smile. 🤣

They get 4 seasons in the space of 2 hours up there.

I have walked to the summit several times usiing different paths. I have seen people cycling or running up/down it. No idea how they/you do it. I take my hat off to you.

Up the Llanberis Path and down Snowdon Ranger until the bridle path turns right & heads over the col to zoom back down to Llanberis again...

It was a better view once we were a few hundred metres down!! 😂

Early Retirement Planning
I have new fat balls. Birds didn't like the old ones and they ended up going black and manky.

Who would have thought birds would be so picky? We had the same issue last year and with some mixed seed we put in the feeders, for some reason, they just wouldn't touch it. After all of the rain we've had over here in the last couple of days, I'm keeping my eye out for ducks as our garden now resembles a large pond.

Have had exactly same experience, in my case, with Niger Seed. Bought a small pack to "try it out", Goldfinches went mad for it. Bought a larger pack, still Niger Seed, put, different "brand". They would not touch it.

Even my wife's 1950s "they get nothing else until they eat that" didn't work!

And the 'cheesecutter cap' as the essential extra to complete the image - ?

WHen I first moved to North Wales I was talking to a local

He said he had met some tourists who had been to Llanberis and commented on the wonderful views from the pass at the top by the path to the top of Snowdon
The local reckoned they must have got lost and gone somewhere else
it is notorious to mist and fog
and rain
and wind
and snow in winter

The new ones have seeds & nuts squished up in them. Hopefully they'll get eaten!
The old ones were plainer but did get pecked at during the summer but nothing touches them in the winter 🤷‍♂️ ..

Similar experience with Niger seed.. I'm not sure whether the variety got changed but the Goldfinches head for the sunflower hearts (white, they don't like the black ones!)

I feed my garden visitors a mixture of wild bird seed, sunflower hearts,Niger seed which only the Goldfinches seem to like, fat balls and peanuts.
I get mine from Robert Dyas, they seem to like it by the way they go through it.
