Ah ha! Now it is snowing. I haven't been outside but the snowfall appears to have at least doubled in the last couple of hours. The wind is getting up and I suspect rain is on the way.

It's a day for lighting the fire and doing bits about the house.

Awake for a couple of hours during the night with a busy mind, but must have dropped back to sleep about 04:00. I can hear the rain lashing the windows so I will leave the curtains closed for a while longer.
Not a lot scheduled for today, the gradual transfer of the contents of the kitchen cupboards into boxes continues in preparation for next month's new kitchen, we are using the people who made such a good job of creating a shower room from the downstairs cloakroom, had the schedule of work yesterday, skip to arrive first, then strip out old kitchen, do the electrics, replaster and then paint everything to create a blank canvas ready for the installation. That sounds straightforward, but I know it's going to be a big upheaval 🤔

Barnet,
Good morning all.
Snowmaggeden has arrived, all of about half an inch. The cats weren't happy and refused to go out. Its sleeting now which will turn to rain, so the snow drifts will be washed away.😅
Our daughter is calling in for dinner later on, so after a soggy dog walk and some domestics I'll set to in the kitchen.
Enjoy your day everyone.

Morning all :hello:

Heavy rain all night here.
Just heard on the news that Somerset is cut off because of snow up country.
Might go for a stroll on the Quantocks this morning, before lunch at the Railway Inn.

The word is smiggl

Did you mean 3.30am. I would not mind being woken up any time by the person who I have shared a bed with for the last 54 years.
I

Yes Mike, sorry. 1.00am & 3.30am is correct. My pm's should've been am's!

We are late (very) night people and are out of sync' with the other retirees in this thread, and in the real world tbh.

We have a great and healthy relationship. It has its moments, I am married to a very passionate, and sometimes fiery, lady. But she is a great lover in the broadest sense of the word ie not just physically.

Sadly, sex is, along with money and death an almost taboo subject to discuss in our culture.

We are very open with our friends about such matters.

Very sadly, amongst our fairly wide group of friends, sexual activity has, with a few exceptions, virtually, or even totally, ceased. And in some cases was never a major factor in the relationship anyway.

Obviously, illness, medical conditions and some natural bodily changes, affect some people as they get older but the sad reality is that many people just give up trying to be romantic, etc. Or maybe attraction falls over the years and desire simply fails?

Another one of those human conditions that doesn't really get enough airtime imo. And when it does it is watered down media fodder.

Remembering all the fuss about the 50 Shades... series of films is instructive. Positioned as being very 'outre' in the media was a sad indictment of our society.

If the limit of a couple's exploration over the years is a pair of fluffy handcuffs and a blindfold then they have lead a very sheltered life!

Anyway, enough of this shocking talk! I am up uncharacteristically early and am enjoying watching the snow float down whilst enjoying a cuppa.

Mrs SD informed me earlier that she is not getting up until at least midday (she means it) and if I want to walk in the snow it will be a solo activity for me.

Have a good day one and all. And stay safe out there!

About 9.00 most mornings legions of squirrels can be seen in the gardens searching for the nuts they buried in the autumn.......not today....

Ditto.

And whilst the little buggers carefully tamp down the soil when burying their hoard of nuts, they are less diligent when digging them up!
