This image turned up today. Our terrace was built in 1845. Based on the ivy growth I think this photograph was taken 1855/60. Our house is fourth from the right. The far right house was the manager's. Note the fancy windows. I've never seen that before. I think it was for privacy.

The problem with that is if you earn interest, the Liemore party will take a Chunk of it from you. I'd rather not give them the opportunity to take even more money from me than they already have.

Not if you stash it in ISAs.

Having said that, I still hang on to the PBs, always the chance of a big win, plus, since April, I am on 4% return, although I have had nothing for last two months. Mrs B is feeling VERY smug, £175 this month, and 4.5% return since April. Actually, it doesn’t matter how much Mrs B wins, provided she wins more than me, she is happy 😂

Courtesy of my concessionary bus pass, one free child under 5 and one child on a Tiger pass...we (3) all just went into town on the bus and back , total cost £2.
Sit down and have a Greggs sausage roll /steak bakes, do a bit of pocket money spending for them, a bit of meandering around plus a few bits in Asda...and home.
Good way to keep them occupied, plus up and down escalators for no good reason other than they like to.

So much better than being back at work in the noise and bedlam 😀

The trouble is the 6% savings is only up to £4k.

Yes, I. see it now. You also have to have an Edge Current account (at a £/moth fee), and, the 6% is only in the first 12 months, because there is an "introductory bonus" (1.5%).

Its not bad, but, not enough to tempt me from my Chase Account, with 1% cash back (£15/month maximum), no monthly fees.

We have an instant access savings account, well two in fact, from Santander which gives 6% which is way ahead of anything PBs returned for us.

The savings account is only available to c/a holders.

Yes, we have a Santander a/c with 7% - only a maximum of 4k though.

It comes to an end soon.

The higher rate than yours is probably because that was an earlier deal than yours.

Can't see that one listed as a currently available account.

It isn't. Older deal and our 12 months is up soon.

It's only available to customers with an Edge c/a. If you are or were previously a Santander Select customer you might have been offered the chance to change to an Edge account. Once you have the Edge c/a associated savings accounts are available.

We happen to have two Select accounts so I converted both to Edge. It takes about two minutes online.

Edge cashback is limited to £10/month but I also got £150 for switching accounts. Not banks, just account type. It was a no trainer as an existing customer.
